Edit. I found it very difficult to grieve the loss of our dreams most of all. Plan for tomorrow, but live in today!

I married my best friend and man of my dreams when i was 26, he was 29. After a very short 3 1/2 years he died one night. We had just built a new home and were trying to start a family. I was devastated. I had lived on my own for a few years before meeting him, managed my finances, bought a car, house, etc. so i could live by myself again. I too was not prepared for the emotional loss. Deep scars remain. Its very important for women to have good, supportive girlfriends. I read RPW because it is …

The emotion is strong in your painting. I want to say I love it but that just seems trite. Great work.

Besides cooking, I love to work with leather. I am learning how to mold leather to make possibles pouches and eventually holsters. I have made some journal covers. I participate in historical reenactment cooking for Revolutionary war soldiers and hope to make pouches to sell at some upcoming events.

I have mixed feeelings about her article. I agree that too many times people diagnose an illness to explain behaviors. On the other hand, some behaviors are attributed to hidden or unknown drivers. What comes to mind it Aspergers. There has been a strong focus on Aspergers and Autism in children while little on adults. When in a relationship with someone on the spectrum, it is really helpful to understand what is driving the behavior. This doesn't mean that you should not focus on your own self …

Yah, I agree with your description above. Apologizing while standing your ground is definitely different than apologizing while slinking away. How you carry yourself is so important. A great book on this subject is "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin de Becker. I highly recommend this book to all females. Males can gain a great appreciation for how women feel/think also. We are different.

It's not worth it. I agree, apologize and move on. I fail to see you point that this is not standing up for your woman. He is protecting his woman by not getting sucked into some jerk's anger.

I would love to read her book.

I love to cook also. I've been experimenting with Brunswick Stew recipes. I've made two batches so far - the first was sweet and smokey, which I love. My second batch was different as my SO prefers a vinegar based stew. I added a little too much vinegar. When he let me know it was too tart, I thanked him and said I would add less vinegar next time. He reaction was priceless! He said that's all? I was sure you would tell me that you wouldn't cook for me again. WOW! I was surprised by his reaction…

Ciao! I've been reading this page for a few months. I began my quest to become a better woman a few years ago. I first read Andrew's "Rules Revisited" site and starting implementing many of his ideas. I'm older and widowed many years ago. It has taken me years to recover and heal. I have lost weight, grew my hair out again, wear makeup and have developed a love of dresses! I am for the first time in my life embracing life as a woman and it feels wonderful. But I think the most important area of …

I am glad to see that separate bedrooms can be possible in a healthy relationship. My SO has Asperger's and he needs his space. I've also been single for many years and have sleep issues myself (night terrors). I'd been struggling with thinking through sleeping arrangements as I've read so much on dead bedrooms and how important sleeping together is. It is encouraging to read that couples can meet each other's needs - both for intimacy and sleep.

I prefer short, Military style haircut and smooth body. I wouldn't want a man to shave his body though, that would be weird for me. I would want him to be who he is naturally.

Yes, thank you for bringing this up. I also include getting dressed, doing my hair and make up. I feel the same about women saying "I have to pee". Ugh. That is so nasty. Maybe its the open culture we are in. I long for the days when one simply excuses themselves and takes care of business.

I would suggest she visit a dermatologist. I struggled with acne for many years or so I thought. In desperation I went to the doctor. I do not have acne, I have rosacea. For years I made my skin raw and angry by trying so many types of cleansers and creams, altering my diet, water temperature, go in the sun - no, stay out of the sun. I was going mad. An experienced dermatologist can help her. I rarely have flair ups now and when I do, they are manageable. Best to you and her.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
