I bought a used pick-up truck while in grad school. I would pay a mechanic $50 a pop to inspect. This was a loooong time ago, and I was a grad student, so that wasn't cheap. But well worth it. My mechanic looked and sounded like Gallagher the comedian. One guy selling his used Toyota pick-up (this was so long ago they weren't even calling them Tacomas yet) said it had never been in an accident. Mechanic put it up on a lift, pointed out that one of the torsion bars had undercoating, while the oth…

Women do have stronger immune systems than men - which is why they suffer from autoimmune diseases at a significantly higher rate than men. There are two sides to every coin.

"Be present" reminds me of something I saw while visiting a Buddhist temple, a poster that read: "Do not dwell in the past Do not dream of the future Instead, focus the mind on the present moment"

If you can afford it, get a chest freezer. Because it does not defrost, food (either before cooking or after preparation) can be stored in it for extended periods with no deterioration. I got mine 9 yrs ago for about $300. Costs about $30 a year to run. This will allow you to buy food in bulk (one time I bought a massive amount of steak on sale, cut 'em up and stored as individual steaks in the freezer), as well as do your cooking on the weekends in massive amounts. You can store the food in sma…

The problem is that the previous owner allowed the usage, to the point that he paved the path. This could create an easement through the property that allows public usage to traverse it, an easement that the transfer of property ownership does not alter.

There's a scene in the book that isn't in the movie. It's a flashback to when Amy was living in New York (through a journal entry). She has a job as a magazine editor, but none of her friends work, except for a woman named Ellen. Her friends thought it was okay for Amy to have a job, because she didn't need to work for money due to her trust fund. So her job was just her hobby. But poor Ellen? They looked down on her because she had to work; her husband didn't make enough money to support thei…

You already know who she is. You already know what she'll do. There's nothing good that will come of it if you reconnect. "And then I feel guilty and suspect I'm being petty." This feeling and this thought were the intended effects of the phone message. Manipulation was the goal. Don't reach out, just move on.

So you expect a 15 year old girl, who's at a house party where no adults are present (against the rules for her), who is drinking (also against the rules), who is suddenly and violently attacked by guys she considers friends and almost raped, who narrowly escapes, to immediately go home, tell her parents everything and call the police? LOL

Yes but they vary widely between different states, and areas within states. My parents pay $2K a year for a house in Vermont but i pay $10.5K for a condo in NY north of NYC

I bought a condo 3 years ago using a buyer's agent, which is a real estate agent who only represents purchasers. Most real estate agents represent both buyers and sellers (dual agency) and are parts of real estate agencies that represent both as well. There's a built-in conflict of interest in that situation. My agent helped with all aspects of finding a place, selecting a lender, finding attorneys and inspectors, etc. so I'd say the first step is finding a good agent, preferably a buyer's agent…

The problem with the current economic growth rate is that it comes with massive new deficit spending at the federal level. It's easy to juice the economy with a massive tax cut that comes with no corresponding drop in government spending. I've been paying attention to the Mueller investigation and the SDNY case with Michael Cohen, and I don't see how Trump survives this. Plus, if the bond yield curve is any indication, we're heading into a recession in 2019. Not sure which party will win the pre…
