But the point is.. if there's a movement which is better aligned with your stated goals, why do you cling so desperately to the label of feminism? Because most people have never heard of "Egalitarianism". Because I am in favor of women's rights in places like Iran, Afghanistan and other places where women are being heiniously oppressed, and using the terms "women's rights" and "feminism" is clear language. Because "Egalitarianism" is a dog whistle for right-wing Republicans who are in favor of s…

Um, you DO realize that women in the 19th century had no rights to education, voting or property ownership and that their husbands could legally beat them? These are rights that, thankfully, we “Western” women have won, but the women in Afghanistan and Iran are fighting for. I’m assuming you are OK with that, I mean women studying and voting and all that..... as a “leftist “. :-)

Yeah, because feminists who think differently get banned. LOL So it gives the false impression that these shrieking brats somehow speak for "feminists".

Maybe you ought to read up on the difference between first-wave feminism (equality), second-wave feminism (repudiation of male power structures) and third-wave feminism (ummmm... identity politics? Destroy everything?). Also, there is a difference between European feminism (based on Beuvior) which is about equality and women choosing their livestyles, and American feminism, which basically bullies women who choose the "wrong" thing. Basically, feminism in the US took a wrong turn in the 80's and…

I'm a woman and I am an old-school feminist, but I got kicked out of the feminist subreddit because I said that not all men are rapists or potential rapists. It's a stupid way of seeing other people, like claiming all women are potential shoplifters. So welcome to the club. Social media is toxic.

I agree with her that these things OUGHT to be issues for real feminists. The people she is talking about make me feel leery of defining myself as a feminist, although I consider myself an old-school feminist, like the Sufragettes. I am also against essentialism, the idea that being female somehow makes a person better. However, she sets up the idea that all of the (real) feminists believe in taking down the patriarchy, replacing it with matriarchy, and don't want equality. This seems like she w…

If you are looking for a woman who is not into casual sex, try church/synagogue/religious meeting. Or look for an organization or cause, in order to meet people with shared interests and values. I met my current partner through a political organization. We found that we both had similar hobbies and interests in the environment and peace. You might as well give up online dating and bars. You will never meet people of quality online.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
