You could probably model dating sites as a gas mixture. Gases A and B are decent people of opposite gender, and gas C are the "Dylans" (I've not heard that one before. What's a Dylan?). Well, the study said that recycling and using reusable shopping bags are "traditionally associated with women", which I think is ridiculous. The sense I got from it was that the crime had to be committed because the victim was male. Presidential assignations don't count because they were killed because of their position, not their gender. Doesn't ISIS routinely kill the boys it runs across, but keeps the girls alive? That probably would count.

They said the government raised the age too quickly, not letting women plan and prepare for the extra years they were now without a pension. As I recall, I don't think most people against it were against raising the age at all, just how quickly it was done.

If police effort is acceptable for every other crime, but not for this one, it's clear the program administrators are basing that decision on charge rates and conviction rates, and the base assumption is that both are too low. Enacting a targeted policy to specifically get those numbers up is justice by quota, not by evidence. That's a pretty good argument, although I think the main reason they're doing this is because they thing police effort is not enough for this crime specifically.

They aren't doing their own investigation, they're reviewing the police's investigation. That's a huge difference.
