3	Girl faces 32 years in prison for false rape accusations These kind of questions come up all the time. From what I understand, or at least what the people on Reddit tell me, the reason they don't get the same sentence is to not dissuade real rape victims from not coming forward about it. Thinking they might go to prison if they somehow flip the tables and the rapist "proves" it is false. This is just what I've heard, I'm not a lawyer, or understand much of the legal system at all.
