Yeah, I loved JDatE. It's at the top of my list of examples of the burgeoning "slacker fiction" genre, along with Cabin in the Woods. But, "This Book is Full of Spiders, Seriously, Don't Touch it" had a substantial drop in quality, along with a few tidbits that pinged on my feminist propaganda radar (Amy's assertion that the fact that simple math dictates that heterosexual men and women must have a nearly equal amount of sex partners proving that "women totally have the same libido as men, and i…

Okay, so I wasn't really planning to log in tonight, but my God, that thread. It's so concurrently awful and horrible I had to add my two cents. ENTP, DerpaNerb, EducatedOaf, Kuonjii, Celda, Hach8, T-rex_with_a_gun, and others who jumped into that fray, I am speechless. You guys got in there and shot down the strawman arguments, false claims, and fallacies like it was nothing, and kept yourselves reasonable and articulate all the while. It amazes me how your rhetoric was so flagrantly and object…

However he takes it a step further by say that women portrayed as double D sex objects in games is harmful but men portrayed as Joe six pack are not. Yeah, I've seen this argument before. The logic...wait, ironic quotes. The "logic" is that Joe Six-pack is a power fantasy for men; we want to be that guy. Meanwhile, Jane D-cups is a possession fantasy; we want to have that girl. And when I say I've seen this argument, I mean I've seen this a priori assertion with no evidence to back it up other t…

... So, what's the accepted protocol, here? Should I delete my earlier comment and deny ever having opined, or butch up and admit I was probably wrong?

I don't see how there's anything wrong with this article. They're only stating the facts of the case. Four men and one woman are dead. I don't think they're trying to portray the woman's death as being morally worse than the men's. It's just more natural to highlight the one item that doesn't fit in with the pattern, rather than the four that follow it. If your car has a flat tire, you'll say that; "My car has a flat tire". You wouldn't say "My car has three undamaged, inflated tires." Both conv…

Thank you. But I kinda really regret that topic. Not because it didn't need to be made, and not just because of the misattribution, but because I didn't really articulate what it was about the 2XC posters that bothered me. It wasn't any vocal male-bashing in their thread; rather, it was the fact that nobody but nobody mentioned how shitty and irresponsible the woman was for making a false accusation of rape for about three solid pages of text. That's what bothered me. But I didn't express that w…

Because...it gets met with the same "Stats, or it didn't happen response". Pretty much exactly what I said, basically. The same tactics are used against the "oppressors" when they point out that the media makes them look like tools, and that affirmative actions policies are taking opportunities away from them; they're told that their experiences are anecdotal, they don't have statistics, they're actually privileged, they're immature, and they need to get educated. Whether they're oppressors beca…

Yes, the ones that really stung me don't seem to be there anymore, and I can't quote them from memory; wish I had taken a screencap. But in any case, it doesn't seem as bad on second appraisal. I think I may have erred. I do believe I may delete the original post, lest I be responsible for disseminating misinformation. I will act with more restraint in the future.

Sorry. Really sorry. Wasn't trying to start a board invasion or contribute to a problem; just saw a lot of people making knee jerk assumptions in one thread that a man was the bad guy, thought it was relevant, and linked. Honestly didn't realize it was 2XC; didn't remember subscribing there, and automatically assumed it was r/fem. Generally I like how the members of 2XC conduct themselves, and don't begrudge them having their opinions, or think they're any less valid for the female perspective.

At least there is that. I've had women tell me, with a straight face, that no woman would lie about being raped because it was just so serious a charge. It's good to be able to point to evidence and go "yes, yes they do". (Granted, incidents like this get dismissed as "anecdotal", and any statistics showing false rape accusations to be more common than assumed are dismissed based on what website they appear on.)

Sorry to jump into the conversation, but there are documented cases of physical standards being lowered for women. Firefighters for example are generally required to be able to carry a 200 pound person a set distance to get them out of burning buildings; when women can't meet that standard, it gets waved. I'll try to post links to this and other examples, if you want. I'll be the first to admit, the writer of the Spearpoint article phrased his points terribly; actually wrote what amounts to a sh…

I always have it set to sort comments by age, not upvotes, so I can see how the discussion evolves over time. So from my perspective, the androphobia is permanently at the top.

Yeah, had it pointed out to me that this was in 2xc. Feel like a moron. edit: Do agree with you, the responses could have been much worse. It just bugs me how it isn't until the very recent replies, there was never any doubt that a man was at fault in some capacity. Either the woman, "Anna", had to be legit (despite the OP's valid reasons to doubt her), or Anna's boyfriend had to have fabricated the story (why, exactly?), or Anna's boyfriend is still responsible in some fashion. I don't know wha…

Okay, I'll admit it: I do not like this article. I can agree with what "Young guy" says, but I cringe at the way he says it. He states girls succeeding in school are cheered while men succeeding at school are jeered, without backing anything up. Yes, the record number of female college graduates, that comes after decades of female entitlement programs and female-friendly curricula, is being held up as an example of what women can do on a level playing field. And yes, the corresponding decline of…

Ah. Thank you. Chemistry is not my forte, and I only vaguely knew that uric acid became ammonia from my studies of life in pre-modern times (how they used to tan leather, traditionally).

I don't consider myself a smart-person per se, but I've read the work of a lot of ideologues who obviously do consider themselves smart, and their consensus seems to be that feeling this way is wrong, and the people who feel it should be marginalized. According to them, there is no oppression against men, and those that perceive it are men who are reacting emotionally to their changing roles in society. Their proposed solution is further education, from feminists of course, on why men are actual…

That actually sounds kinda dangerous. Wouldn't the uric acid in the piss have had ample time to convert to ammonia? Is it safe to have a shitload of ammonia dumped on you, even in a low concentration solution?

You know, I'd imagine the feminist response would be to blame your troubles on patriarchy: It's patriarchy that reinforces the gender roles that make it okay for women to have piercings and not you. Of course, them saying so would be something of a left-handed compliment (is left-handed sympathy a term?); even while sympathizing with you, they'd be inadvertently reminding you how "privileged" you are. That's even if they kept it inadvertent; you post in a feminist forum, they'll helpfully tell y…

I love how when you state that women aren't interested in taking on dangerous careers, user Lilusa asks you for a source. As if the statement that women aren't trying to get into the exciting, fast paced world of crab fishing is some ridiculous a priori assertion that needs to be backed up with numbers. It's this attitude I keep seeing in response to claims of anti-male and anti-white discrimination: "Stats, or it didn't happen". As though polls and surveys were some kind of omniscient barometer…

My first thought was what things I would to a person who had vandalized my property that way, but emotional comments like that would only be taken as proof that MRAs advocate violence as a solution to problems. Feminists can advocate domestic violence, and praise women who commit it; later, they'll explain it away as venting, or joking. We don't have that freedom. We have to maintain a higher standard of conduct. We have to think, not react. But damn, it takes a lot of self control.

I'll admit, when I was a bit younger and a lot dumber, I was on the "but it's harmless if it's a woman and a dude" bandwagon myself. I suppose a feminist would chalk that up to patriarchy, and use it as an example of how patriarchy hurts us all. But I wonder... Is it patriarchy that instills the idea that male sexuality is inherently predatory and exploitative, and female sexuality is inherently pure and wholesome? Are patriarchs championing the idea that female promiscuity is awesome and that a…

5.) The Muscle Head: These are the gym going, pretty boy, shirtless, idiots, who have little to no intelligence at all. That first part sounds...''kind of'' like me. I have spent a good decade in the fitness scene, and a lot of time at the gym. But I don't think it's really cut into the time I spend studying music, philosophy, literature, cooking, or any of my other interests, thus rendering me less intelligent. Indeed, for myself and a lot of people I know, our desire to get the most out of our…

We can agree it's good that no innocent person got arrested or charged, yes. But it's good in the way of "injustice hasn't been done", not "justice has been done". Anna's actions have demonstrated just how spuriously she and women like her will make up a rape charge. If this had developed just a bit differently, several men might have had their lives ruined. And what consequences will Anna pay for this slander? Her boyfriend might leave her, and the Poster might not be her friend anymore.

Holy crap, it is r/2X. Think that was a Freudian slip on my part; I always thought 2X was pretty moderate myself, and when I saw the comments, I assumed this had to be on r/fem. Sorry. I don't seem to be able to edit my title; can a mod do it?

In the early comments, everyone makes the assumption that the rape allegations are automatically true, counsel OP to direct her friend to crisis centers and rape hotlines. After the update, when the accuser comes clean (She made up the allegations to evade her boyfriend's suspicions of infidelity), everyone assumes the accuser's boyfriend is controlling and abusive. Basically, somebody has to be the bad guy here, and it has to be a man. It can't be that the OP's friend is batshit crazy, she's ju…

The privilege of having his work as a baby sitter be used to trap him into child support for "assuming a fatherly role" Can anyone tell me when this actually happened? My preliminary google search only returned someone on Yahoo answers referring the the incident using the same terms, verbatim, without any info on when or where this happened, or who it happened to.

To be fair, more men are collecting alimony from their ex-wives these days. There's nothing like parity, but it is happening.

Haha. Scumbag Feminist: Tells men to struggle for their rights the same way she does. Accuses the ones who do of being lonely misogynists who want to legalize rape. But in all seriousness, yeah, I can identify. I had it drilled into my head that "feminist" was synonymous with "decent human being" while I was growing up, and read a few books by feminist authors to familiarize myself with the subject. I didn't find them particularly moving. Even dismissing the ones that were flagrantly anti-male a…
