Sadly, this is true. A family friend married to a successful doctor and we knew he wasn't shit. When we tried to warn her, she said she was smarter than him and she would be okay even if he didn't turn out to be who he promised. They got married, had a kid, and as the years went by he got more and more controlling than before. By the time she was willing to divorce, he was unhinged! He fought for full custody for years for bullshit reasons, and when she gave up (her parents died in a car crash a…

Chances of getting a dud is so high I literally used to think I was going to be "occasional flirter"(if bored) with no intention of ever marrying and having kids. I really wanted kids, it was the possibly abusive dud part that scared me. So I planned to adopt girls from orphanages for as long as I remember. Then I met my husband, got convinced none dud men existed etc. But I have literally never seen or even heard of a non dud husband before meeting mine.

It is almost always lying, abused men exist but their own "manliness" shit prevents them from talking about it.

None of my former friends believed me when I said another friend was stalking me. I changed counties/continents and he still tried to reach out(via police, no less!) Thank you for listening to your gut and protecting your friend! I wish I had a friend like you!

The last paragraph is exactly the same with Turkish men. Also in most Muslim communities, you can swap non-muslim with white and brown with muslim. The same paragraph fits like a glove there too.

When I was 20, anyone older than 22looked old and boring to me. Also, I "love" how he thinks his wrinkly face will show off his jawline! Haha!

Being up for it shows dedication and I simply didn't have that. Age doesn't matter as much, if both parents agree and are willing to put effort to make kids life happier and easier. I feel like fencesitters who say "one day" instead of "maybe" make life harder for everyone. Age does matter, maybe less when two people of the same mind agree on it, but even then age still matters.

It definitely has challenges. I had my first at 30. I used to want more but after seeing how much energy and effort it takes, I am one and done. I wish I could have more but neither my body nor my psyche can handle it. Sure, technically I could have another, but it wouldn't be fair to either kid! I can't believe how selfish these old men can be! It is appalling!

Oh god! This is my marriage to the T! I feel like the Atlas all the time! When I complain, he just says "I will help, just tell me what you need" I hate having to instruct him(because I have to repeat it so many times and he still doesn't do it yet complains I am negging), and when I do instruct him "do this specific thing that specific way NOW", he still half asses it and I end up redoing it anyway! Be careful whom you make kids with, ladies! Be SO careful!

I must be getting old, this question didn't even register as a date for me! I read it like it was more of a "you are cool person, let's be buddies instead" It is probably intentional. He didn't even have the balls to ask for a real date, let alone intention of taking you ever in a real date...

Turkey is not a proper country, it is more like a pile of issues in a trench coat! They have over %50 unemployment rate, this excludes all the people who gave up searching and women who usually consider "homemaking" a job(forcefully! When allowed, women exceed men in academic achievement) The "gainfully" employed ones are usually worked to pulp and abused so women get depressed and over-obedient and men get more violent than your run of the mill nvm. Also, almost half the employees are paid mini…

Trust me, it is just Sharia law the regular vanilla way. Imagine being a woman/girl in a country with so much rampant harassment that they are banning paying customers from establishments! These men harass tourists so aggressively because Turkish women/girls are living in fear cooped up in their parents/spouses houses... Tourists are the only women/girls you can see in some areas because of that.

There were hotels with "foreigners only" rule for years in an attempt keeping such men out. Instead, these hotels would get Turkish men who have passports from other countries(dual citizenship etc) coming to stay and harass women and girls, because it gave them a larger pool to harass.

I think you should work on cutting both of them out of your life. I know because I did it. I always thought my mom was a good person just happened to be abused by my narcissist dad. But the reality of it is she enabled him and defended him and whenever I confided in her just ran to him to tell on me. There is no coming back from that level of codependency. To save myself from dad, I had to also get away from them both. I did my best to play obedient daughter and lived like a miser. Saved every p…

When I was online dating (more than 5years ago), I always set up a Skype video call after a couple messages. I always said it was to get to know them better but it was my way of checking if the person was 20 years older than photos, had no ability to chit chat, was the type that said "I love you" half an hour into first conversation, looked like needed to be washed with a pressure washer(twice for good measure!) One of the worst things was the lack of compassion from anyone. I literally had to do it so I didn't end up homeless and starving, or end up dropping out of college because of lack of place to sleep and study. Whenever I complained, no matter to whom, it always fell on deaf ears... Everyone treated me as if I "asked for it" by taking that job, without any attempt to understand what made me do it in the first place. I had one of these jobs: I used to open the door at a car dealership. Yep, that was the entire job! I was nineteen and needed money for college. My uniform had a tight mini skirt and full face makeup was a must. I was uncomfortable with over sexualization but it paid better than other flexible jobs so I took it. It was one of the worst jobs I ever had to do! I was regularly hit on by creepy men who were old enough to be my grandfather. It sucked for being able to tell them "I would not date you …

This is the reason of my dead bedroom. Sex didn't do much for me, so I said "let's try 20 minutes or longer foreplay" because I saw somewhere online that it is supposed to help. Apparently it is too long to be even worth giving a try. So I stopped trying too. There was nothing worth trying for me anyway! I was never interested in single dads even though I love kids and would have adopted even if I never married. I never could find the words for why I hated the idea so much. This right here! You love his kids? They are HIS kids so you get no authority or decision making power. You don't want to be an unpaid sitter? Well, there is obviously something wrong with you. I grew up in Turkey. When I was 5, there was a celebration of some sort. I think we were going to watch a video of a relative's wedding. As the Islamic tradition, men sat at the front, women at the back. I was 5 and I was fucking tiny! I couldn't see shit! When I complained and asked to sit in front of the men, mom said no. I was so short, I promised I wouldn't block anyone's view. Of course it didn't matter. Men were first, and that was it. I was expected to do all the chores and help mom, my f…

I remember there was a study that showed the older the father, beauty of the kids got significantly worse and mother's age did not matter on this at all. It makes sense the genetic quality is also degrading along with "beauty" which they likely measured by symmetry or some other measurable quality.

A reporter asked an old lady why she never married. She was a famous writer/poem and he was hoping for a romantic story. Instead she started to tell him about her pets: a dog, a parrot and a cat. Reporter didn't get why they were relevant and asked her for more details. She said: "My dog does nothing but sleep and complain all day. My parrot constantly shits on all my friends and never shuts up. And my cat is nowhere to be found at night but when he finally shows up in the morning, the only thin…

Agree with this! I came from another country so I can marry my husband. When I moved in, the first thing he showed me was my room! He made an entire room for me! Empty closet, new bed, curtains, comforter/linens... I was shocked! I asked why we wouldn't sleep together and if he didn't want to. He said he wanted me to have my own space.
