Reminds me of how feminists used to spend International Men's Day saying MRAs only talked about IMD on International Women's Day. Their 'proof' was a spike in searches for IMD on IWD, which was bigger than the IMD search spike on IMD. Common sense would suggest that's just from people...wondering if there even is an IMD, or when it was. If you've heard of IMD, you've probably heard of IWD too. Also, I just ran the Google Trends search, and the IWD spike on IWD completely dwarfs the IMD spike. An…

Female on male rape not even recognized Unless she uses her penis, of course. I'm not even kidding. That's literally the law. Rape can only be done with a penis. I don't think there have been any cases with any trans women getting charged.

A while back, feminists loved to say "we'll talk about selective service when women get full combat rights." And they did, and feminists said nothing. I actually argued with one in News who was against the draft in general, but refused to admit SS was harming men, or was even a gender issue. And a common claim is that the draft was last used decades ago, so it doesn't count as oppression. Tad hypocritical when feminists regularly point to, oh, all of human history to claim women are oppressed. B…

I like how the second person immediately started talking about rape jokes, when you were talking about depicitions of rape in general. a person would never murder because they see it displayed as a joke in media http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/hinckley/taxidriver.htm Wasn't even portrayed as a joke. Dude tried to murder the president, and stalked Jodie Foster. I would submit to the court that anyone who would murder because of a joke about a horrible issue was already extremely mes…

Except feminist claim to be about gender equality. Not women. Yet mainstream feminism generally refuses to admit women have any privileges over men. Even when it is talking about men's issues. Also if you are publicly talking about a group of people, all the time, it is not inherently wrong for them to respond. Also, feminists constantly and explicitly reinforce the sexist idea that abuse and rape are solely things men do to woman, which are the result of male dominated systems. That is quite fl…

The obvious retort to talk of "gendered violence" is to ask how people determined that gender was actually a major issue. And then ask them why female-on-male DV and rape are NOT called "gendered violence".

It's already semi-common to see feminists complaining that people are interrupting their circlestrokes to talk about male abuse and rape victims. EDIT: Actually, it has been for over a decade. There used to be a pro-feminist blog about men's issues called "what about the menz?", because feminists talking about men hated it when men complained about what feminists said. Example from 2011: https://notsilenced.blogspot.com/2011/11/menz.html Example from, like, this week: https://64.media.tumblr.com…

men have raised boys in this way. I hear there are these new things called 'mothers', who have done the majority of child-rearing through...all of human history. You should call out your friends for catcalling, for SA and shit like that. it is a mens problem. If I knew my friend was a rapist, I am reporting them to the police. Well I don't think they see men as a a threat in general or worse than wild animals, they definitely don't look at any man and think that stuff. You have spent a great deal of effort insisting that it's reasonable for women to do precisely that. And ofcourse bears are capable of crazy things, but I doubt that there are many people that die due to bear attacks vs the amount of people that see a bear Now do men. Bears ill not understand the loud noises yoi make with a horn or the pepper spray you …

I mean I think most perpetrators of violent crime are men doing it to men if I remember correctly, so I think as a whole they are threats also to men. But that's not the point of this question. So after all of this time saying women have faced stuff that gives them a unique perspective from men, you say that men are actually more likely to be attacked by men than women, and you've known this the whole time. If you're a troll, you're doing a great job. I am actually mad. They won't be a random gu…

but if you have any woman in your life you should know that they all have had to deal with something or multiple things even, or just even in the news. I've seen several women say they'd prefer the bear, and Team Bear are all sexist idiots. 99% of people I interact with in a daily environment are in public spaces, ...And the woods aren't? I dont know how often women around me have to deal with catcalling and other things. What a shock. You're trying to equate harassment to physical violence, to make women look more like victims, even though it's irrelevant. We also need to think about all the cultures where women dont have equal rights, all those men that think those ways. The question was directed at women in the developed world. …

I mean yes ofcourse, it's still a wild animal, but over the years we have learned a bunch of things about them. So, fun fact; humans know a lot more about men than bears. On account of there being a lot more men then bears, and a lot more encounters with them. Also, half of humanity is men.

but the idea Here is that there is less risk that you'd even have to fight with a bear. So you've gone from "it's about the feelings, not the facts!" to "it's actually about the odds of being attacked". You're being very inconsistent here.

but its not about technical statistics here, its about the feeling that woman have been given. And we come to the center of the shrubbery maze. Why do you think "women aren't basing their fears on the actual risk of attack" is a good argument? Especially in this sub? i dont see it as dehumanizing because its about a select group of men that we know exist. Which you use as a reason to treat men in general differently. That's called "sexism". Im not part of that group, but i understand women are s…

I mean yeah the bear will be much stronger, but the bear most likely wants nothing to do with me, so it's easier to scare away. You're implying the man probably wants something to do with you. This is false. Ofcourse I'd rather fight a man than a bear, but the idea here is that the chance that I'd have to fight the bear physically is very, very low. The chance of fighting a man is even lower. It's just about the encounter. You say this, while you consistently ignore the odds of attack.

No, because the problem Here isn't that for example black men commit more crimes. It's that men I general from all races commit SA crimes. They happen everywhere and are always the same. Five bucks says you are making this up, and did not actually check. Because brothers like me in America are more likely to be violent criminals than any other combination of race and gender, last time I checked the FBI statistics. it's obvious why you (especially as a woman) would choose the bear. Turns out something being obvious doesn't make it any less stupid, or valid. he man could be ANY, and I mean ANY man. There are unfortunately a lot of men that will act differently around a woman when they find out they are alone with them and no one can hear them or will be able to find them. And they're still the overwhelming minority of men. Women are in the woods with men all the time, and very few of those men attack them. …

I got in an argument on Monday with someone who claimed that you can probably scare off a bear, but probably not a man. He also said; An aggressive bear may only toss you around a little and then leave once satisfied that you are not a threat to it or its cubs, while a man who is aggressive enough to attack you can be assumed to have a pretty evil baseline intent. The exact same sort of blatant double standards. Also claimed, "you have a good chance of escaping a violent bear encounter without s…

/r/MensRights08/05/24 04:33 PM

That's because they're idiots, and have bad risk assessments. The chance a man will attack, period, is much lower than the bear. The chance the attack will be sexual is even lower, because most sexual assaults and rapes are done indoors. And most of those dudes also know the victim personally. Not some random man.
/r/MensRights08/05/24 04:33 PM
3

The simplest counter is "that's the lifetime risk. On an individual encounter basis, like the hypothetical, the bear is much more dangerous." And if you really want to be cheeky, ask them why they assume all the women's sexual assailants are men. Don't they care about female-on-female victims?
/r/MensRights08/05/24 04:27 PM
4

A bear is honest. It's a deadly animal and it does not masquerade as anything else. Men will lie, manipulate, separate and do all sorts of other things to get a victim alone. And the chance of a man doing that to a random woman is slim, even when it's not compared to the chance of the bear attacking. You have no idea what sort of dude you're dealing with at any given point in time. As such, it breeds suspicion. You could say that about literally anyone, man or woman. And the bear. This is a pret…

See, that's the thing. When so many random people make basically the same argument, and argue very strongly in its defense, it's a lot more likely that they are telling the truth than not. As opposed to somehow co-ordinating a lie, or coming up with the same joke. Especially when this matches a lot of similar arguments certain women and pro-feminists have openly made for a decade or so now. And if even a tiny amount of those women were being honest, then they should be criticized. They shouldn't…

That’s the point women are trying to make, that we would rather die at the hands of a wild animal than risk getting stuck with a horrible man. I understand your viewpoint, and I still disagree. The worst a bear and a man can offer is death. It's probably a lot worse with the bear, because the man is unlikely to eat you alive on the spot. Or drag you someplace quiet, then eat you. Or maul you and leave you to die of blood loss. In fact, the man is a lot less likely to attack you in general. You a…

I think it's more about how they see criticism as a threat to the political tribe. And if you want an evopsych reason I just made up, threats to the tribe tended to be fatal. So a lot of people react to criticism the same way they would to physical attack.

You claimed it was a joke. If even one person seriously said the bear was the right choice, then they should be criticized. You also managed to avoid actually answering either of my questions. The obvious counterpoint is conscription. AFAIK, Israel is the only nation that has mandatory unisex conscription. You'd have to go out of your way to use "male/ female" (as nouns) over "men/ women". It's dehumanizing and objectifying. The "-human" is implied. Also, "females" is a lot shorter than "women and girls". It also disregards gender for biological sex, which, as you can imagine, will upset some people. Loads of people use those words in a way that includes trans people's desired genders. It feels like you - or the people whose views you describe - are making assumptions about what people "really" me…
/r/MensRights06/03/23 01:35 PM

I've seen people claim the only people who use that word instead of "women and girls" are misogynist incels/redpiller types.
/r/MensRights06/03/23 01:29 PM

That's because the phrase is mostly used by feminists trying to mock and stigmatize men who defend themselves from sexist generalizations.
/r/MensRights06/03/23 01:29 PM

However, the way it's worded implies that most men are rapists, Grammatically, it doesn't. It means any number of men could be rapists, as long as at least one man isn't. The implication is what people are reacting to. In other words, feelings. The statement is a lot like what you'd usually see from people objecting to feminist generalizations about men, IME. Except they're more likely to go "Only a small amount of men do X", then the feminist mocks them with "Not all men!"

Yeah, it's amazing how people can see someone go "I don't think you should blame all men for the actions of a tiny minority who everyone already hates", get mad at the people defending men, and think they've won. It's just a thought-terminating cliche.

I still boggle at the sheer pants-on-headery of "we totally care about your problems, and also we hate you if you talk about your problems". IME, feminists either say "not our problem", or "we're already taking care of that, and anyone who says otherwise isn't a real feminist". In rare cases, both. (Rage warning.) It’s another way to enforce a patriarchal hierarchy to control men (just because patriarchy puts men above women doesn’t mean they don’t have pressures from the patriarchy themselves). That's right. Duct-tape it to the narrative. When a guy tells me being a stay-at-home parent is a woman's job, I take that as him criticizing my choices from a …

Henry Cavill said that he was afraid that strange women might mistake his flirting for harassment, so it was easier to stick with dating women he already knew well, even if he knew it wouldn't work. People branded him a misogynist rapist. For trying to avoid mistakenly being called a misogynist rapist. I'd say that's worse.

Depends on your definition. Some CRTers - and I mean self-proclaimed CRTs - will claim that negative outcomes for ethnic minorities are themselves "systemic racism", and must be the result of the aforementioned baked-in inequalities. I reject that definition, as well as the assumption of the cause. With a more conventional definition - is there racism in the system - I'd say yes. Including against white people. Completely unrelated question, have you ever heard of a motte-and-bailey argument?

Once again, anyone with a single functioning brain cell can see that #9 is a myth. Reminder that it was said by Hilary Clinton, in a speech as First Lady. The context was basically "women are the primary victims, because they suffer when their men are killed".

Gee, I wonder why a movement regularly slandered by a much larger, more powerful movement that has falsely blamed MRAs for things up to and including mass murder (IE Elliot Rodger) has a bad reputation. Has it occurred to you that the bad rep might not be MRAs fault? And that men's issues discourse is becoming more and more mainstream, despite the supposed bad rep? To the point feminists are now trying to take credit?

Men's rights is a lot better than feminism. For one thing, they're not trying to fit everything into a gendered threat narrative, and regularly complain about men and society in general screwing over other men, not just women. People think you're a feminist concern trolling, so they assume you'd defend feminism. And personally, "X sucks" is not actually saying "X is wrong in major ways, and at least some of the MRA criticisms of feminism are correct".

I think it's ironic. A few years ago, feminists claimed people listen more to men promoting feminism than women. Considering how malefems are arguably stereotyped worse than female feminists, I doubt that. But when it comes to MRAs and egalitarians, people actually do seem more receptive to women who talk about men's issues. Maybe because they don't have a stereotype attached. Or maybe it's the Women Are Wonderful effect.

My guess? Because they've based a lot of their activism on the idea that women are victims of rape, because victimhood is power. Acting like false accusations are significant threatens that. And the spinal reflex of mainstream feminism is 'blame men'. Also, false accusations don't just threaten future victims reputation. Imagine some lady actually got raped, but blamed her ex, out of malice. And this means the actual rapist gets to rape another day.

"Incels" are just losers that think the whole of society is slated against them. You mean like feminist women? It's ironic that a sub called "men's liberation" has very strict rules about who you can't and can't criticize. Even if you didn't think feminism was anti-male, why should any movement to help men be so reluctant to criticize feminism? Feminists aren't perfect. Why is it okay for feminists to constantly demonize MRAs, egalitarians, even other feminists who talk about men's issues, but not for people to simply criticize feminists? some examples can be how toxic masculinity is only talked about when it affects women or men's aggressive nature affect women but not when its affecting other men. usually the reasoning is that "they are doing it to them selfs" I've seen feminists who talk about 'toxic masculinity' when pretending to care about men. plus in case you haven't noticed a lot of the times women complain about creepy men its for good reason, not them asking a question. its usually for following, objectifying, mumbling, being too pushy, or not leaving them alone One of the most famous cases was Elevatorgate. They have no problem with women saying "I was so scared of rape I did X, Y, and X". But if someone actually says women should act like adults with responsibility for their own safety- even if it's other feminists trying to empower women - then they're a disgusting victim-blamer. Because if women had responsibility for their own safety, they can't be victims, by feminist logic. You either have agency and choice, or you're a victim. That's the binary.

There's also the difference in actual charges. Since women are less likely to be charged with "rape" in the first place - and in some places, they legally can't - the press can't call a female rapist a "rapist" without opening themselves up for a defamation lawsuit. Don't blame the media, blame the legal department.

It's like the folks who try to be "logical" by naming logical fallacies they don't understand to try and win an argument. They treat concepts like they're friggin' Pokemon. "Strawman, I choose you!" IIRC, it was in the news for a few days, then dropped in favor of the Castile verdict, for obvious reasons. Ironically, a lot of Regressives were trying to blame the shooting on guns (before the FBI even tracked down where the shooter got his guns), but the next week they were yelling at the NRA for "failing" to defend Castile. Strangely enough, I don't think I saw a single one explain how the Castile shooting was a gun rights issue.

The "Mike Pence Rule" came about in 2002 because the problem of false accusations has been around for a while; I remember how many SJWs went "so he's saying he can't control himself around women?" No, he wants witnesses so there's no he-said, she-said later. The idea that a woman might be wrong didn't even cross the SJWs' minds.

They made Domino a black woman. I don't have a problem with that, but they didn't give her a birthmark that actually looked like a domino. And because of that, they also got an inexperienced black stuntwoman. Who died because she was inexperienced. I can't in good conscience support the movie.

They say women are now more oppressed than ever because they are "forced" to be both career women and mothers. Nevermind the fact that feminists themselves are responsible for this state of affairs, they still place the blame on men. The funny thing is that feminists seem to think men don't have to prioritize work or family. A lot of feminist issues aren't actual gender bias, it's just 'something bad happened to women'.
/r/MensRights30/05/18 12:51 PM

I have straight up seen feminists blame boys' poor performance in school on boys, because they don't know how to behave "properly". Anything as long as they don't have to admit there's bias. Actually, that's a very common theme when feminists try to address men's problems; they're all men's fault. Men don't report rape because society will ignore them, they don't report it because of many stoicism. Pay no attention to decades worth of modern activists and governments gendering the crime, includi…

A lot of SJWs abuse the term "terrorism", especially if it allows them to claim that attempted mass murder by white men (IE the Las Vegas shooting) isn't called "terrorism". Not to mention the hypocrisy, considering how the mainstream left ignored the Alexandria shooting, which was straight-up left-wing terrorism.

/r/MensRights19/11/17 10:34 PM

Well, that’s unfortunate. I think part of the problem is that a lot of people view “MRAs” as “incels” or “nice guys” and just have an automatic negative response to the term. Which, as best as I can tell, is the fault of feminists attributing the actions of other 'manosphere' groups (EG PUAs, Redpillers) to MRAs, even though all of those groups actively deny that they're the same. /r/MensRights30/08/17 03:17 AM

It's also commonly used by SJWs, who reflexively try to play the victim...and accuse people of trying to play the victim. Or "wanting to be a victim". One common sign is making it about the abuser's intent instead of their actions, and downplaying their choices. They didn't decide to do X, it just kinda happened.

Okay, the FBI's definition is not a legal one, it's just for gathering statistics, and they clarified that it did include Made To Penetrate. but I believe this is a very calculated move on feminists to make sure women are not held accountable for crimes. A feminist group helped make it so that FBI change its definition of rape to include male victims. As a distant second priority. The first priority was revising the definition for women, and the new definition seemed to imply made-to-penetrate wasn't rape. Feminism didn't care. It was antifems who asked the FBI, and they said it did include MTP, and they'd make it clearer. Also, that definition is just for statistical purposes. You seem to think fairness and equity are part of the divorce world. hahahahah no I apologize for giving you that impression. My point was simply that if the value of an asset changes after the divorce is over, and the other party has been bought out, someone isn't retroactively entitled to their share. Well, from a mainstream feminist perspective, once you acknowledge that women commit violence against men, the whole Narrative crumbles. And that's why "men want to be able to defend themselves" magically becomes "men want to hit women".

The problem is that feminism doesn't like to admit men have gender equality issues, much less that female privilege is a thing. Also, it constantly acts like rape erasure only happens to women raped by men. It uses sexist language by its own stated standards, then yells at people who point it out.

The UK's laws say that rape has to be committed by penetrating someone with a penis. Everything else is a lesser offense. If you can be 'silenced' just by someone disagreeing with you, either there's a massive power discrepancy, or I strongly doubt you would've stood up to a stiff breeze in the first place. And then you point out that feminists have broken the law IRL to keep men and women from talking about men's issues. Pulling fire alarms is actual silencing.

There was one guy who almost went to jail for rape...except he stopped somewhere and got a donut. Kidding aside, the accuser has to admit to making a false accusation, or you have to have evidence that the accused and accuser couldn't have possibly been together during the time that accuser claims there was a rape. And there's no reasonable way for them to have made a mistake, such as mistaking the rapist for the person they accused. And if they did, well, there goes their credibility at trial.

Sooner or later the main narrative going to start parroting MRA talking points and claiming how reasonable and "middle-of-the-road" these are and how normal it is to care about them, all in an attempt to co-opt the MRM and say MRAs weren't making these points while under constant assault from dogmatic feminists in positions of power. They've already started trying to claim feminists would care about men's issues if men would...stop...talking about their issues. I am not making this up.

Also this is basically how SJW feminists treat their imagined "Nice Guy" boogyman. How can feminists think that victim-blaming is reserved for women, when if a man is physically assaulted by a woman the initial conclusion for many people is that he cheated or was abusing her, and if a man is sexually assaulted by a woman the initial conclusion for many people is that unless he's a "fag" he must have enjoyed it? I wasn't kidding when I said I've got quite a few problems with the concept. Oddly enough, the same folks who gave us TM seem rather reluctant to discuss how women are also responsible for women's issues, unless it can be framed as "internalized misogyny" or suchlike. There's also a lot of talk about how awesome women are, but less about how women screw each other over. And you don't see much feminists celebrating the positive parts of traditional masculinity, under any name. I just call them "m…

An Arizona State University rally against rape culture has been criticized for actually promoting rape culture because it encourages men to respect women — and respect for women should be “a given” and not have to be encouraged. But...women don't automatically deserve respect, and it's sexist to say so.

Personally, I don't like using the term "mangina". At the very least, many feminists say it's really about misogyny because men are being derided for being feminine, when the actual meaning is "man who is overly submissive to women". As opposed to "white knight", which is a lot less ambiguous.

However, if you do care at all about the disproportionate influence that feminism seems to have, it might be worth your time debating feminists as long as others are watching. The reason is that feminists generally do very poorly in debates because their ideology doesn't seem to value truth and logic, and instead resorts to shaming and emotion. I once mentioned here that David Futrelle had used the same Elam quote-mine in his American Prospect article that he did when he debated Elam several years prior, and Elam had even called him out on it. He vowed, in his post on AMR, to correct it in the next compilation. He said nothing about correcting the article.

Tone is, in fact, a vital element of any attempt at persuasion and rhetoric, and if you present yourself in a way that prevents people from listening to you who might've otherwise, you may want to reconsider. It's not about idealism. It's about practicality.

I prefer "gynocentric feminists" or "mainstream feminists". Which means that if anyone wants to defend feminism, they have to discuss either gynocentrism or the mores of mainstream feminism. This is sometimes called fourth wave feminism. The problem of course is that there is a distinct lack of evidence that feminism is helping or has helped men. For instance the CDC report on rape will get people to either shut up, or admit at least that there's a serious definition gap as far as male rape goes. I especially like how the writer uses a definition of Rape Culture involving rape of women, but later claims that it includes male victims as well. Even when folks like them provide an actual definition for their terms, they'll ignore it as they choose. Rape culture is about the appearance of vulnerability, but it's still sexist, just like it was and would be horrifically racist and million man march worthy of fighting if a visible minority, typically black men were the victims, were the topic of this point. Thing is, the lifetime numbers still indicate that men are 1:5 victims and women about 1:6 perps. You can't keep treating rape as "violence against women" with those numbers. One SJW I found just said that the whole report was clearly flawed, based on that discrepancy, deliberately ignoring me providing a study showing men are less likely to report at almost exactly those ratios.
/r/MensRights02/06/14 06:42 PM

Yes, actually. Widom and Morris, 1996, found almost exactly the same ratio (16% of men vs 64 %of women) when it came to lifetime reports. And that was with documented cases of sexual assault. http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/pas/9/1/34/ Personally, I didn't even realize I had been sexually assaulted as a kid until I was in my 20s, IIRC.

Notice how the article doesn't actually describe "rape culture" until a third of the way in, after it's already tried to push the male reader into feeling defensive, and then uses an almost exclusively M>F definition of it and rape (barring a token mention of two dudes). There was a page on their website that said that women can't be convicted of rape unless they assist a man. When I went to use it for this post, turned out they had deleted it. Can't imagine why.

I like how "read what they have to say" is actually "read what some feminists say they say". And from a website that more or less actively lied about Warren Farrell, no less. I also like how saying that they're glad misandric malefems are exposed is apparently "hate" now. Say, doesn't Manboobz claim that it's "exposing misogyny"?

I love it when folks like you try this mindreading "you just don't want to admit it!" nonsense instead of actually refuting the argument.

life-impacting And often life-ending, whether by murder or imprisonment.

I think the idea is that he says outrageous things that get attention, which is "better than nothing". Note how I don't describe it as a good idea.

Considering that Rawstory hosts Amanda Marcotte, a woman who complained about the presumption of innocence in the Duke case, and blamed only the prosecution when it fell apart, I'm not sure why this should be a surprise.

Well, me, but I use it ironically. Because Gamepro was a terrible magazine.

I suspect that women apply less overt, conscious pressure to conform to gender roles. Got no way to prove it, though. Sort of like when a guy is in the closet and resorts to gay-bashing. Which explains why MRAs are painted with just about every single "undesirable" male stereotype in the book.

Well, yes, they are basically the Reddit Auxiallary of MB. (I'm not naming it in full because I'm pretty sure someone has an alert set up.)

the larger point is the mainstream media isn't bending to the whim of feminists as much as the used to. The funny thing is that many feminists blame the movement's bad image on the media being biased against them.

Well, this'll surely have tens of thousands of reblogs on Tumblr within theAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry. Couldn't keep a straight face.

The first page of Urban Dictionary and a majority of results in a Google image search seem to indicate that I am right. http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/neckbeard Neckbeard is a pejorative term referring to unattractive, overweight and misogynistic Internet users who wear a style of facial hair in which a majority of the growth is present on the chin and neck. https://encyclopediadramatica.es/Neckbeard Website NSFW, Adblock recommended I don't know why you keep trying. Yet he has a neckbeard rights category whose purpose is to conflate being an MRA with being overweight.

How does that make GWW's comment okay, exactly? I never said GWW's comment was okay. In fact, she said it wasn't okay. It's not okay. In fact, someone recently accused me of mocking David's weight - in the patented MB BS-hiding-behind-snark-method, of course - when I said nothing of the sort. I love how saying "this guy is untrustworthy because he's a liar" is inherently worthy of mockery. And how do you think overweight MRAs feel when she attacks someone over their weight? I dunno. Ask them. Th…

It's as if they think that acknowledging that men can be victims or that male victims deserve support somehow takes attention away from women. No "as if". That's exactly what folks like Frosty think.

Oddly, the same rationale was used in India.

Ironically, the RationalWiki article is much worse. Also ironically, someone on the RW Talk page says they're under no obligation to be rational.
