As a 5’11” woman, I feel this. Guys bitch about women only liking tall men, but it’s not our fault that the short ones have mean insecurity complexes. For me, it’s not the height that’s unattractive, it’s the complete lack of confidence. And don’t you fucking dare tell me I can’t wear heels. I find guys who are my height or at least close tend to be the worst. So I really only date freakishly tall, like 6’6” and up. Although I have dated one guy who was around 5’5”. But he was supremely confiden…

My last ex, down to the letter. Slow, small, cutting remarks over time. Where not one of them is earth shattering, but holy hell, once you look at the big picture, it's awful. I had to start keeping a list of the small, nasty remarks or actions that he did because after a while it felt like I was losing my mind and becoming irrational. On the plus side, after I broke up with him, the feeling of relief and freedom was incredible. Didn't even realize how much it had been weighing me down until I w…

Shout fire and run. In all seriousness, I’ve only had it once where it was clear I didn’t vet him out well, and I just paid my half, I’m not going to make a big deal out of it. Otherwise, I’ll offer to get the tip, or I’ll offer pay for the next date. Then I just move on.

I usually leave it at a light, simple "my time has value" point. I find that works good for both work and personal life. People I work with know not to fuck with my time, they don't show up to my meetings late, and they don't waste my time, I'm not a patient person. So after explaining it in those terms, they understood it. Plus, that was much more work-appropriate, rather than getting into the cost/time breakdown of a Brazilian laser hair removal process, and the comparison of that and the cost…

I deliver it in a non-controversial, joking way. And I lie a bit, saying I’ll go Dutch later on. I’m not above a little white lie and social graces to keep things smooth. They just pester me all the time about my dating life, so I give them the filtered highlight reel

Ugh, fucking this. I know better than this, but I met a guy on an app and we clicked, but I had some travel coming up, and he never asked to meet up before. I have a pretty firm 1 week rule, where if he doesn't ask to meet up within a week, I cut them off. However, with my hectic schedule and, well, I was a bit smitten with him, I gave him leeway. Then the weeks kept adding on. And suddenly I find myself in a texting relationship with a dude that lives in the same damn city as me. I just cut him…

Glaring: Picky eaters. He wouldn't eat anything besides meat and potatoes. Anything I would cook wouldn't be good enough, and his mother could always do it better, as he always was sure to snidely point out Subtle: My mother thought I didn't act myself around him. I thought she was being unreasonable. He had just slowly molded me into a different person through manipulation. If you're friends say you've changed, listen. My mother has become my litmus test for men. She sees things I don't. Like, …
