Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?You are right - 20k ain't nothin' in the grand scheme of things. I mean, yeah, it is a freakin' fortune, but only a tiny percent of my lifetime income. Hell, I will probably waste more money than that on stupid crap in a decade. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/03/20 05:37 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?She could make my life even more miserable - pressing bogus assault charges, calling cops to the house, telling my boss I am a bad guy, etc. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/03/20 05:34 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?Yup. She just balked at an offer of 20k and to waive pressing charges for some BS she is threatening me with. I wish she would take the damned 20k and GTFO, but it isn't going to be that simple. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/03/20 05:21 AM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?Don't know what she has in her account ("what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine")... She has been making car payments though, and the attorney says that was half mine (capital, calculated somehow). She isn't going to like that news one bit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/03/20 11:53 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?In fairness, you can't count the child support in that number - that was going to happen regardless. Sorry though, Mate - are you doing alright now? | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/03/20 11:49 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?How did you know she was fat!?! | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/03/20 11:47 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?Appreciate it. If all goes well, I will be free and clear (from her, at least) in June. OMG, I will be a new man! | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/03/20 11:46 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?Excellent advice, and the direction I am headed (negotiate lower). She has already come down from $40k to $29.5k to 18k. She probably knows she doesn't have much of a case (her settlement in a divorce would only be half of the savings, and a judge would probably look unfavorably on her taking $5k out of my bank account). Appreciate the sympathy, but in a few short months, I will be free of her forever, and a huge weight will be lifted off my shoulders. Free at last, free at last, thank God almig… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/03/20 10:15 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?I am in the military, so any allegation of domestic violence can easily cause a 'military restraining order' to be put in place. One restraining order kept me out of my house for 4 days, and I don't want to do that again. I understand what you are saying, but the hassle and headache of an all-out war has a price...is it 18k? | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/03/20 10:04 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?Actually nothing - just don't want her stirring up crap at work. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/03/20 08:49 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?I am leaning this way...money comes and goes, but my happiness to be free will be freakin' wonderful. I am walking around with a 20lb weight around my shoulders now, and if 18k gets that off my shoulders, it will be worth it. Money grubbin' witches are real. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/03/20 09:53 PM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?Everything would have to be in writing, and now that I think about it, should probably be drafted by an attorney. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/03/20 02:03 AM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?OK. I can buy time saying we need to have an attorney write up an agreement, and call an attorney Monday AM to get an appointment for Tuesday. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/03/20 02:02 AM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?OK - I will download it right now. However, she is really clever, and is aware I may be recording her. She is very careful not to say anything incriminating. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/03/20 01:38 AM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?It would have to be clearly written that the 18k ends all claims before I agree to it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/03/20 01:11 AM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?No other assets besides pots and pans. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/03/20 01:10 AM
Wife Wants $18k to Walk Away - should I take it?It is definitely extortion, but she isn't putting it in writing or anything provable. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/03/20 01:07 AM
Equal parenting timeYes, in my case, ex was a stay at home mom. I paid her bills for quite a while in another house... Always be the bigger person, and don't engage in pettiness. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/02/20 01:35 AM
Equal parenting timeThat is what my attorney and the mediator said I was going to get without spending a fortune on attorney fees for an uncertain outcome. Like I said, because things went somewhat civilly, I actually saw my kids quite a bit. I don't know what state you are in, but this was in Florida - every other weekend and Wed. evenings is typical. God may give you time with your son, but the state will tell you when/how often you can have it. Stay strong in these trying times, mate. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/02/20 05:11 AM
Equal parenting timeI got the typical plan (every-other-weekend, Wed. evenings), but fortunately things weren't completely contentious and the way it worked out the ex let me see them a lot more than that. It is a damned dark tunnel you are looking down, but hopefully you can come out the other side intact. Good luck, mate. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/20 01:26 AM
Follow up to previous BPD postI would back off this approach. Your diagnosis means nothing to the courts, and talking to her like this will provoke the hell out of your wife. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/20 01:18 AM
