Oh my goodness thank you so much for this! Some of the comments made me feel like I had somehow intentionally chosen a ‘bad boy’ and that it was my fault in some way. I didn’t get that impression with him at all - he seemed lovely, he was a buddhist, he did philosophy, he had had previous relationships so he could speak very eloquently about emotions and relationships and stuff, he sounded so emotionally mature on the surface, but obviously underneath there was all this red pill stuff being give…

Haha I appreciate the recommendation! I value empathising with each individual person in a situation rather than reducing everything to the men vs women, so I appreciate the recommendation that this stuff kinda blames all men by the sounds of it? And yeah you’re absolutely right about using our time and attention wisely - thank you!

Very cathartic! I always feel more settled when I get things written down and out in the open, otherwise I have all these thoughts rattling around in my head endlessly! But thank you, i think that’s what I intended - hopefully it will positively impact someone in some way, whether it’s someone considering red pill, or someone in a relationship with someone red pill

Ah you hit the nail on the head - a cycle of tolerating a situation that lowers my self esteem, because I have low self esteem. And yeah you’re 100% right about the feminist thing - it wasn’t until further in to the relationship that what he meant by feminist was so far from what most people would describe as feminism! He studied philosophy so he was great with technicalities, saying things that sounded convincing but underneath there was something nastier if that makes sense?

Yeah you’re absolutely right about having and holding boundaries, it’s definitely something I’m working on. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had bad experiences and that your trust has been broken. I’ll check out that YouTuber, sounds super interesting - thank you so so much

Haha I guess you’re right - it’s been about a year since the relationship ended, and only now am I toying with the idea that it might have been emotionally abusive (after talking to friends and a therapist about the situation) - for so long I fully believed it was a matter of us not being compatible, or that I wasn’t good enough for him, so it’s weird breaking out of that frame of reference!

He was really intelligent, we shared a lot of interests and world views, he took a genuine interest in a lot of my interests, we had really interesting and stimulating conversations - we really hit it off when we first met, I was head over heels. He was also super attractive, like way out of my league. And in the relationship there was a lot of good stuff too! At the time I blamed a lot of the bad bits of the relationship on myself, and I still absolutely believe that I made mistakes that hurt h…

Hi, genuinely thank you for your response. So I am genuinely in therapy, I’ve been going for a few months but only recently have been properly talking about that relationship - initially I didn’t want to talk about it as I felt silly being stuck on a relationship that ended a year ago, but my therapist framed it as that relationship being the start of a lot of self limiting beliefs, so it’s valuable to delve into. I think partly because I hadn’t been in a relationship before, I didn’t know what …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
