Anyone with two brain cells recognizes nuance in shit, and socialism is a broad term, dictionary definition: socialism a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. You're saying this is bad right, just so I know what I'm arguing about? Cause what I'm trying to say that ideally the above is good and practically we've never been in a position to implement it …

Forget about it, you think socialism is bad. I see.

Facts are facts, but political systems are a bit more complicated than boiling down to single facts...this guys kind of put it better than I could with the whole english as a second language problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/gpfx56/we_need_to_speak_honestly_about_the_gops/frmdyur/

How do you feel you need to school me to the point I agree with you on one level and the need for me to fuck off on another? Kind of goes with your black and white perception of the world I suppose. Have a good day man, didn't mean to get you apologetic and dismissive at the same time.

Where's your 100 million number from? China's famine and Stalin's pogroms mainly? This is not socialism in action but mad men...

You're arguments are shit though, I was hoping for a discussion, you just keep stating your facts. Anyway, I beg to differ, have a great day. Maybe look at how destructive and murderous your country's politics are to various other perspectives but your own and then see things are not just black and white. You just let about 100,000 people die of something that could be prevented, which would be a failed country in some eyes, not that I'm saying it is.

I'm just saying that that doesn't make it flawed as there's a lot of indicators that implementation was shit rather then the idea. Imperialism worked really well until it didn't anymore. And Socialism did kinda work for 50 years in Yugoslavia until nationalist tensions got stirred by external players.

It can only be that simple when an american describes things. On the other hand you have your great capitalism, which seems to have brought us to end of world times, but other options are not to be tried because they suck. There is different versions of socialism. It worked in Yugoslavia until your country came along and incited a war.

Well, there's levels of implementation. Your country is apparently democratic, even if it obviously isn't the best implementation. The countries you have mentioned mostly had a single strongman leader making it a socialist dictatorship most of the time, or a socialist plutocracy perhaps. In my opinion it wasn't the attempted socialism that ruined them, but shit decisions the actual leaders made, most of whom weren't elected but took control of the government in one way or another by force.

Depends whether you consider them socialist cause they call themselves socialist, or actually socialist from a more social scientist perspective. Social programs generally have a net positive effect whenever applied intelligently. Scandinavian countries would likely be considered very socialist from a U.S perspective, while having a capitalist in name, but heavily regulated markets.

I'll take a stab at that one on the wrong sub, Alex. Just because dental and medical is not charged at the point of service, doesn't make it free. There's still competition in socialism, universities still fail people etc. People are not assigned jobs/careers, that's madness that came from trying to make the idea look bad by the people who were dogmatically against it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
