50/50 Custody and Business TravelThanks, everyone! It looks like most likely I should be fine. I appreciate it. Divorce has definitely taken a toll on my mental health and made me an extremely anxious person. I'm certain many of you have gone through or are going through the same thing. May we all find peace and happiness. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/05/22 04:40 PM
50/50 Custody and Business TravelThanks! Yeah, the whole process is just really nerve wracking. Can't wait for it to be said and done. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/05/22 04:42 AM
How do y’all feel about ever getting married again? Not at all. Marriage is really just not necessary and if anything, it just complicates things and makes a mess when the relationship ends. The idea that relationships last forever is a misnomer. Most relationships will die and even if they continue for a lifetime, typically the couple is miserable. There are some outliers, but they are outliers and not the norm. So just stay in a relationship and when it's done, you can just walk away and never have to deal with each other again. Fuck marriage. … | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/03/22 02:25 AM
Anyone here want more kids but are afraid of the risks of what the mother might become afterwards?Absolutely, man. This is a question I ask myself as well. I would love to have another kid. I love my child and would love for them to have a sibling, but as many here have already expressed, you can't rule out that a split won't occur and you're back to a custody battle. And yes, statistically speaking, a second marriage is even more likely than a first to end in divorce. The stress and long-lasting impacts of that make it seem undesirable to pursue another child. I've been thinking more about … | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/01/22 04:06 AM
Why is my wife locking our bedroom door?Yeah, had the same thing happen and from what I can tell from this post, it's not uncommon behavior. I do agree with others that it's an attempt to establish some sort of emotional/physical/psychological barrier between herself and you. She probably believes she is expressing her new found independence and yeah, maybe trying to write a narrative in her head that presents herself as the victim. The bottom-line try as hard as you can to not react to anything she does or says and separate yourselve… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/11/21 07:15 PM
Am I the only here who is seriously considering never marrying again even if I find my "soulmate"?Yeah, man. I feel right now at about 7 months post separated, I don't see why you need to get married. It's funny, because I felt that way when I got married, initially. I think society and cultural values really pressure people into marriage, even when that may not be the best option, or just plain unnecessary. One lesson I have learned the hard way is that no matter how happy you may feel, or how great you may think your marriage is, statistically, the chances it comes crashing and burning to … | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/10/21 02:37 AM
The depression is so bad I’m struggling to survive. It's a marathon, dude. Be patient and kind with yourself. You're going through one of the worst experiences people have to go through. It sucks and you have every right to grieve and feel the way you do. You are not abnormal or crazy for that. Don't let anyone tell you or make you feel that way. That being said, find a good therapist. Stick with that therapist until you feel you have fully processed what happened and can make sense of it for yourself. From there, you can build a new you and a ne… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/21 02:50 AM
To tell or not tell: Wife with unresolved abuse issues leaving friends in dark as she chooses divorce over counselingI'd say talking to her close friends would probably not go over well. Ultimately, they'll support her decision over your's. Even if she is clearly making a decision based in trauma, it doesn't matter. Her friends will always take her side. If you contact them, they'll just tell your wife and that will make things 1000x worse. As someone who's stbx wife suffers from unresolved child sexual abuse and who is at least partly making the decision to divorce me based in that unresolved trauma, you can'… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/21 04:01 PM
Divorcing but is it right?Sex is important in marriage. However, there are other elements to the mix that make a marriage great too. It's hard to find anyone who has all the elements and if you can't, you should also be introspective about your responsibility for any incompatibility in the relationship. Oftentimes bad sex or lack of sex can be an indicator of other relational and personal problems (ie. Past sexual trauma, depression, lack of self-esteem, guilt, etc.) I think if you are hesitant to divorce and she is will… | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/03/21 09:57 AM
I Think it's HappeningI agree with you. Tbh, we both struggled in our attraction for one another. We tried and it didn't work. I've come to accept that and I am ready to move on, even though I did not ask for or want this future. I've learned to accept that there is nothing I can do and to be proud of myself for trying. Maybe we will be happier, maybe we wont, but I know staying together would make us both miserable. That's a hard pill to swallow, but I don't blame myself for this happening. A marriage involves two p… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/03/21 08:15 PM
I Think it's HappeningThanks, man. I appreciate the response and encouragement. I agree, no one deserves to be led-on. It's just way more complicated and emotional when kids get involved in the mix. Definitely a situation no one wants to find themselves in. Nonetheless, having a kid motivates me that much more to pick up and move on for them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/03/21 02:06 AM
I Think it's HappeningYeah, I hear you. Definitely been considering this strategy. I'm just not looking forward to the logistical nightmare it's going to be, especially since I still live with her and it won't be easy for either of us to just move out. Appreciate the advice, man. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/03/21 04:29 PM
