Can someone explain to me the myth of the unequal pay?Look it up, like I did. ;) | /r/MensRights | 28/11/12 09:36 PM
Can someone explain to me the myth of the unequal pay?In parts of the world, including first-world countries, there is a correlation between gender and salary. I can't claim that gender is the primary factor, as OP can't claim that salaries that vary based on gender don't exist. This is the point I was trying to make. Yes, statistical surveys are generally skewed to support whomever wanted to make the point in the first place. | /r/MensRights | 28/11/12 08:55 AM
Can someone explain to me the myth of the unequal pay?Or having no right to free speech. | /r/MensRights | 28/11/12 02:25 AM
Can someone explain to me the myth of the unequal pay?Like unequal pay based on gender discrimination, that's an assumption based on the statistics that you've been made aware of. I'm guessing you're not including all countries of the world in your statement? | /r/MensRights | 28/11/12 12:24 AM
Can someone explain to me the myth of the unequal pay?'Well, well, I found another FIFTY articles written by PROFESSORS that-' No no, I'd like to think we're above that. OP asked if unequal pay was a myth; I gave evidence that it wasn't. I attempted to provide information that conflicted with OP's theory, in order to offer a different perspective and broaden their viewpoint. OP asked a question, and I responded accordingly. I could go off and compile a list of an equal or greater number of valid resources to support the counter-argument, but I've n… | /r/MensRights | 27/11/12 10:27 PM
Can someone explain to me the myth of the unequal pay?Nope. I'm telling you that three resources, two of which appear to originate from America, detail statistics that are considered evidence that unequal pay still exists in various industries. n__n | /r/MensRights | 27/11/12 10:11 PM
| -5 | Can someone explain to me the myth of the unequal pay?No offense, but perhaps you should look up the definition of the word 'myth'. Because I have five minutes of spare time; Wikipedia's take, an online article, and entertainingly, an article on why unequal pay isn't a myth. Google 'unequal pay' sometime; the most recent articles are from 2012. On the upside, I'm glad you are lucky enough to live somewhere that doesn't have gender-based pay differences. | /r/MensRights | 27/11/12 05:19 AM |
Wife Threatening Action Against me if I get a VasectomyKids (or no kids) are definitely something that should be a unanimous decision; but it's truly sad to see that such a drastic difference in beliefs took twelve years to come out. OP's elaboration on their previous discussions indicates that they had a common understanding, but that she is uncomfortable with having the option removed entirely. It's his body, and his right, but I couldn't do this to my partner in the same situation. I guess it depends if the relationship or the vasectomy is his hi… | /r/MensRights | 22/11/12 12:15 AM
Wife Threatening Action Against me if I get a VasectomyI hope, that amongst the replies below, at least some of the answers consider your partner's reasoning and well-being behind making this request - once you are part of a relationship, especially marriage, every decision you make involves and affects your partner as well. Anger always comes from hurt. /opinion | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 10:31 PM

I like the idea of men's rights, even as a precollege teenage girl. What, me personally? I don't perceive it as breaking societal norms, which may be why I missed your query the first time round. I was lucky enough to be born into a society that doesn't really care - women are expected to make a fuss, express their thoughts, and voice their complaints. Men are more expected to simply 'deal with it', as has been drilled into them for centuries, and it's good to see when people ignore, or alter, expectations. ...I hate stereotypes. | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 02:42 AM
I was at a store that had a room for changing diapers. I thought I was a really great idea until..Touche; tou, che. | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 02:03 AM
I like the idea of men's rights, even as a precollege teenage girl.Absolutely. Someone who dreams of being a stay-home parent and achieves that goal is no less successful than someone who dreams of becoming a businessman/scientist/activist, and achieves that goal. My current relationship is based on the understanding that we are both dedicated to working hard to make enough money to support our desired lifestyle. This means that if he suddenly wanted to become a stay-home Dad, we would have a heated debate, because (currently) one salary isn't enough, and vice … | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 02:03 AM
I was at a store that had a room for changing diapers. I thought I was a really great idea until..RUUUDE Did you ask whether as the current caregiver for a baby, you would be allowed to change your kid's nappies in there? | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 01:35 AM
I like the idea of men's rights, even as a precollege teenage girl.Double standards exist for some people, even some societies as a whole, sure. You said 'underachiever', and by 'not at the same level', I assume you mean 'below'. So...would you be content with a partner who is a sub-standard underachiever? (Oompf, my own conclusion was harsher than I intended.) Reddit is all about talking about it, but I'm not sure what you need cleared up. | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 01:33 AM
I like the idea of men's rights, even as a precollege teenage girl.Would you be proud if your wife was an underachiever and not at the same level as your peers at work? | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 12:19 AM
I like the idea of men's rights, even as a precollege teenage girl. This should be far more commonly realised than it is. | /r/MensRights | 21/11/12 12:14 AM
Female victimizationEven in countries like the US, there are pockets of gender inequality. There are terrible stories about women being treated as lesser humans, simply because they're female. I live in Australia, so I can't say for certain. (You asked about feminism, so I'm not talking about men here.) It depends how you're interpreting the term. As I see it, feminism is about gender equality, and therefore retaining the balance that we have gained. For /r/Feminism, it sounds like it's about using the term aggress… | /r/MensRights | 13/11/12 10:45 PM
Female victimizationIn some countries, definitely. In others...not so much. Sexism is the butt of a lot of jokes, too; I don't know if we'll ever get rid of gender stereotypes entirely. | /r/MensRights | 13/11/12 09:54 PM
Female victimizationFearmongering is a technique used by most organisations. ...I started by pointing out that both genders are guilty of mis-uing their rights, in an attempt to bring to light that every argument has two sides. Somehow, I've ended up defending my traditional interpretation of the term 'feminist'. This has been an educational experience. n__n | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 11:00 PM
Female victimizationI get annoyed when terms are over-generalised, but everyone does it, so I don't take offense. How you interpret my alliance with gender equality is up to you. ;) | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 10:56 PM
Female victimizationI'm not on an active crusade. I don't desire equality; I already have it. In this regard, I am fortunate. In other countries, I couldn't say the same. You are correct; there is no excuse for oppression. | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 10:54 PM
Female victimizationThe common practice of domestic violence, or that louder members of a group are the ones that are heard? It was not an assumption; we studied domestic practises in high school. I'm not going to link to an article to prove it, but it was an acceptable way to treat your wife. Doesn't mean that everyone approved. | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 10:51 PM
Female victimizationThe core principle of feminism is gender equality...although it looks like the /r/feminism subreddit has taken a different interpretation. I used to be anti-feminist until I researched what the term actually meant. | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 10:48 PM
Female victimizationAs a friend once said, I could season a salad with that sarcasm. ;) I can see you are set in your beliefs, and I respect that you disagree with mine, but there's no need to belittle them. You may not have experienced first hand what kind of effect domestic violence can have on a close friend, or perhaps you prefer using obvious mockery to get your point across. I don't know you, so I won't take offense. We're getting a little off topic; I'm not defending people who use a cause as a shield to pus… | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 10:43 PM
Female victimizationIf your statement is accurate, I disagree with the Duluth Model. But that's just my opinion. | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 10:30 PM
Female victimizationBack in the day, it was expected of men to 'condition' their wives to respect them. Physical beatings were encouraged. My partner's father was particularly traditional as far as household roles go; so he may very well have fallen in line with the social norm if domestic violence was considered so. Currently, he wouldn't dare. ;) | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 10:29 PM
Female victimizationEmpowered? Ouch. I just like being seen as an equal. Guilty by association is your decision, not mine. n__n | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 09:26 AM
Female victimizationI find it hard to accuse one gender of something I know the other gender does, and it's equally hard to read/listen to it. So yes, I'm all for men having rights. | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 08:18 AM
Female victimizationCame across the term not that long ago; didn't realise it existed. Very accurate explanation of how my partner would respond to attempts at communication. As most things, happens more often than you realise, once you're aware of it! | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 08:12 AM
| -2 | Female victimizationBy feminists who pushed legislation.* Being Christian does not mean you go to church; being a feminist does not mean you believe you deserve more rights than men. I am disappointed that all of the feminists you have studied/encountered have lead you to believe otherwise - I am fortunate enough to have friends who are feminists who don't fit any of the expectations derived from reading the original post. EDIT: Missed the 'gender specific' comment. A few decades ago (or is it that long?), my fianc… | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 05:12 AM |
| -2 | Female victimizationAh - there's the problem; they are in my mind. I interpret them both as meaning 'equality for women', which by definition requires equality for men. | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 04:55 AM |
Female victimizationHa ha, more passive aggression in there than on my Facebook wall. By that principle, You could also associate me with women, blondes, IT specialists, video gamers, Australians...some traits stick, others vary. I'm not trying to start an argument, or troll; I just feel some sort of responsibility to make sure the overlooked details are raised - that the other side of the fence isn't being ignored. Same flag, same core belief, very different methods. You don't have to be anti-mens' rights to belie… | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 04:40 AM
Female victimizationI'm a feminist, I'm not afraid of men, and I don't mind that you are therefore anti-me. I'm also anti...uh...masculinists. On a feminism subreddit, I'd imagine most subscribers would be pretty fired up about their cause, to the point of attacking/belittling anyone with a different opinion. Every subreddit has its extremists; the more controversial a topic, the more extremists would comment, I guess. Same thing happens here sometimes. /opinion | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 04:09 AM
Female victimizationI must subscribe to this feminist subreddit, to ensure I get an equal dose of men vs women in the everlasting struggle for 'equality'. I like men; I think they make better friends due to being more honest, more relaxed, and more into video games than most of the female population. They also make me feel safe if we're out in a group. Having said that, I dislike being hit on, and would strongly prefer not to be raped. Any fear associated with this is due to the general size difference between the … | /r/MensRights | 12/11/12 03:38 AM
