People are going to fuck people they don't want to have kids with without condoms enough that it burdens society. It's happening right now, it's always been happening. I think rather than try to shame people while personally footing the MUCH more expensive bill of caring for their children, I'd rather pay much less to subsidize their birth control. Reducing unwanted births reduces strain on society and especially the state. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and all that. No offense, but your thyroid can't potentially depend on the state completely for 18 years. However, I think anyone having to choose between a prescription they need and buying groceries that month should be able to get both. I get migraines, for example, so I have to take the progestin-only pill and the cheapest generic near me is $35/month after my insurance and goodrx discount.
