Loading up on carbs as workout fuel is one thing. What I'm describing is carb addiction.

Refined carbs, plain and simple. My work requires that I spend large amounts of time with a team of 4-5 people on the road. Often there is a "fat one" on the team, and every time that person is addicted to carbs. Whether it's a soda and candy bar at every pit-stop (which no one else gets), or a 16oz beer (when no one else is drinking). Sometimes it's due to ignorance of how nutrition works, sometimes they know and they are too addicted to change, but refined carbs are always the common link.

Ugh, that article though. Mystery airing that stuff on social media is pretty weak, but the dude just wants to see his kids, and the article reviles in ridiculing him. Disgusting.

From my experience, it would be difficult in that setting, because clubs are for young people, and you'll stand out as the weird old guy on their turf. If you have the looks to pull it off, you might still do well, but chances are you will be surrounded by younger, hotter guys. Your advantages as an older guy are your awesome "grown-up" life, and your worldly confidence and experience. None of which can be communicated when you've got krunk beats blasting at 100 decibels. Personally I much prefe…

Where I live, the downtown club scene is mostly for early 20-somethings. 30 year olds tend to meet new people at community events, chill bars, dinner parties, and through mutual work friends. In regards to dating, women are just as flaky, but less dramatic, and everyone is pretty stand-offish emotionally. Honestly, I enjoy it quite a bit, as clubs and getting wasted always seemed too juvenile to me, even as a juvenile.

30 year old in a small city here. Most of my friends are in their late 20's and early 30's. The clique-y party scene from high school and college is replaced by potlucks, informal sports, art/music events etc. Your accomplishments, career, and social life define you in the eyes of others. Everyone is on a different path, and you will constantly be asked things like "What have you been up to? What's new?". If you don't have an interesting answer, you aren't perceived as an interesting person, and…

Stellar post, the kind of material I come here for. This kind of real talk is a precious commodity in today's PC culture.

Relationships with women are unstable at best. They could end abruptly at any time, because of feels or circumstance, regardless of how much time or effort you have invested in them. Realizing this has made me appreciate my close male friendships far more than pursuits with women.

Making the group laugh has always come natural to me, so I have done it my whole life. I have also failed many times and watched others fail many times, often consistently. This has lead me to realize the golden rule of wit (besides brevity): don't force it. If something pops into your head that's genuinely funny to you, say it. If you're looking for a joke that's not there, or, god-forbid, you have some knee-jerk pun reaction, keep quiet. You can build an internal sense of humor by seeking out …

Essentially, yes. I believe that law applies well to professional or professionally beneficial relationships, in that you will get farther by being likeable and not condescending. With friends it's tougher because you want to actually respect and genuinely like them. That being said, if you've suddenly started subtly being condescending to your friends, you will drive them away. Question is, do you respect and like those friends, and do you want to keep them? Keep in mind that it's possible for …

People are people. Human nature isn't good or bad, it just is. Reality is far too nuanced to be put into boxes of 'good' or 'bad, 'right' or 'wrong'. Practice meditation, look into Buddhism. Plan for the future, but learn to live in the moment and go with the flow. Trust your instincts about people, but refrain from judgement. Everybody is fighting the same struggle. Simply accept what your senses tell you is reality, adapt, and do what you need to do to reach your own goals. Disregard all of th…

Before I found RP I started and ended two LDR's, which were considerably more involved than yours. Heed my words. There is a great RP analogy of men being cell phone towers. Women need cell service (male validation) at all times. If she's subscribed to you, she'll use your tower. But if she's out of range of your tower, you can be damned sure she's gonna be roaming on somebody else's dick. A motherfuckin WALT You have two options right now, and they're both gonna sting: Don't wait, dump her and …

Yup, it's good that you got that learning experience out of the way in your teen years. Now you know what the shitty side of the fence feels like, hold on to that experience and use it to strengthen yourself. As for expanding your social circle, what are your hobbies or interests? Is there a social scene for them? Think long term here. If you started learning an instrument now, you would be good enough to impress people in your twenties (if you practice). When you impress people, they want to ta…

hope I get the chance to confront them and spill some RP truth right in their faces. Oh god, please do not do this. This is what SJW's want, to get you all riled up and confrontational. Do you think this attitude will get you laid by hot women? Rise above the SJW's circlejerk, protect yourself, and improve yourself. The only people who's opinions you should be concerned with are the people who can elevate your career. Everyone else, who gives a shit? Be Dr. Player, that sounds fucking awesome.

Now I have to options - To fucking hold on tight to her and to assume she's a unicorn. To assume I will find another girl like her. (Abundance Mentality) The first option is ridiculous and you know it. The second option is actually your only option, because that is what will happen. There is the chance that you will be together for the rest of your lives, yes, but that is not what you should prepare for, as it is extremely unlikely. Give it a shot, see what happens, but keep your feet on the gro…

Weed blunts your drive. It's a pacifier that releases massive amounts of easy dopamine. You can't fight your own brain chemistry, but you can guide it. Save your dopamine for achievement, sex with hot women, and exercise. These things will be far more rewarding, thus motivating you to pursue them more, if your reward system isn't being hijacked by weed. Relegate weed to special occasions, never let it become habitual.

An alternative to the military is Americorps. It's crap pay, but upon completion of the one year contract you get 2-6k grant towards college, depending on your hours. The advantage is that you acquire work experience and connections that you could not otherwise get as an 18 year old entry level applicant. The work tends to be environmental or educational.

Compare the people you have pre-TRP friendships with, and the people you have post-TRP friendships with. Are the pre-TRP friends better people? Or are you more forgiving of their faults because you already have built a rapport and history with them? Is the bond you feel with your pre-TRP friends due to the fact that they know the real "you" and not the RP gold standard you're trying to be? One of RP's sayings is "Be your own brand of alpha". In other words, be the most confident, respectable ver…

From my own experience: Resist fapping, drugs, and alcohol. Save your dopamine reward system for exercise and personal achievement. You will be much more focused and productive.

"thanks" Turning it into some kind of try-hard A&A or counter-attack neg is just going to reveal how butthurt you are over it. The best thing you can communicate is that you are comfortable with yourself.

Excellent reply. Seconded, meditation is key. Something that has helped me is to let my gut run the ship. If you let your intellectual brain run the ship, you get overly self-critical and caught up in your head, generating a bunch of hypothetical, imaginary scenarios which you then confuse with reality. This prevents you from being present, relaxed, and rolling with the moment. Shut your intellectual brain down, silence it. Bring it back online in spurts as a tool to solve logical problems in th…

Agreed. Your mind and body are one and the same. If you treat your body like garbage, you will feel anxious, lethargic, and unhappy. If you drink, smoke, or eat a lot of sugar, stop. Those things should be for special occasions, never habits. It sounds like you have all the other pieces in place in terms of money and passion. Get your physical self under control and you'll be good to go.

If you are unintentionally coming off as condescending, try two things: Research body language, there are plenty of good TRP threads on it. The majority of people's impression of you is based on non-verbal cues you give off. Also, use your phone to record audio of yourself socializing at any kind of gathering. You may be surprised at the difference between what you think you said, and what your tone of voice said instead. *In regards to your current case of oneitis over your ex. Try to remember …

Quick follow-up, based on the other comments in this thread. Relationships with other people are tools that are mutually beneficial to both parties. If you are being walked-on, held back, or taken advantage of, the relationship is toxic and should be discarded. Let's proceed from the assumption that these are not toxic friendships you are describing. In my example, these friends were my bandmates, and this band was/is very beneficial to me, both socially and financially. While I believe abundanc…

I had this happen to me a few years ago. Had a couple friends and bandmates tell me I was being an asshole and that "you don't talk to your friends like that" etc. It stung for a while, but ultimately it was very beneficial. The fact of the matter is being abrasive or aggressive is a form of being anti-social, and it is generally counter-productive in life. Unless you're a famous genius, you need to maintain positive relationships with people in order to accomplish your goals. If being "you" tru…
