The fact that this comment has a positive vote count is the reason why MRAs tend to earn the ridicule that they do. MRA is not anti-woman. It's not even strictly anti-feminism. It's pro-civility, pro-fairness, and pro-dignity.

How can I proof her wrong? If she has strong NPD, you won't. It doesn't matter. I'd like to suggest /r/raisedbynarcissists and /r/lifeafternarcissism Unfortunately I don't think this community is going to give you very healthy advice on this topic, as it is missing some important context - the NPD context

I like the message implied by the slogan MGTOW, but I find it weird that "men going their own way" need to rely so heavily on an online community. I'm charting my own path, not taking any queues on my dating life from anybody but myself, so I don't understand why someone like me would need to collaborate with others. If you're part of an online so-called MGTOW community - chances are you're still taking your cues from elsewhere, and are not "going your own way." Maybe the wake-up call here i…

People ask me this all the time. In the US it's typically "let me know when you get home safe." It's common courtesy for friends, and is a nicer way of saying "drive safe." Girls, guys both do this for good friends, to show that they care for their safety. I don't think this one is gender-specific, fam.

Oh, but your Country DOES have a history of Racism&Slavery, doesn't it? And it shows. Nice whataboutism, bro. Stay on topic. But it doesn't even work. Slavery was a norm in India for over a millennium by the time the US was even founded White MRAs should learn that Indians are not answerable to their former Anglo-Saxan Colonizers. People with the legacy of OPEN FIRING on unarmed Indian Women,Children&Elderly have no right to breathe down my neck about India's treatment of Women. How do you k…

Cultures are different. We don't have a history of arranged marriage or castes in this country. When immigrants bring those ideas, however antiquated, over, it's hard not to generalize. When people from the same country come over and act entitled to sex from women, and brag about their sexual exploits at work, it's hard not to generalize. It takes work not to. Why do you think arranged marriages are "doing something right?" Do you think "White MRAs" have something to learn regarding this sense…

I'm going to say something a little different here. If someone suddenly pivots from an argument to a hard, conversation-terminating ad hom, that's functionally them admitting that they have no actual response to your ideas anymore. It's basically the same as them saying "Welp. You got me. Good job, I hadn't thought of that!" When I face situations like this, I just try to say something like "Well, I'll just let that personal insult slide. I'm happy to continue the conversation later after you'…

I'm sorry my dude, but if we're not going find common ground on a topic as easy as arranged marriage, then there's nothing really I can tell you that will be any surprise. Lots of MRA rests on freedom of autonomy, which is something you just kinda hand-waved away

Don't forget that arranged marriage is still a thing, too. I've found myself in more than 1 casual work lunch with some coworkers from India who very unironically believe that it's a better way of doing things. Not to mention... I've heard some pretty disgusting things about women. A lot, and very frequently. It's a source of constant pressure to be racist, and I have to actively work against building personal racial animus due to the somewhat regular exposure to that kind of thing.

What an unbelievably convenient way to hand-wave away men's issues. Just project your personal anxieties on the gender at large. People don't take us seriously because they see us as a bunch of fucking incels. I'm not sure they're so wrong on that part of it anymore.

I wasn't, and I never was (look at my initial comment). Seems like you, and many others, made this same mistake. It's almost as if the last couple of years has seen this sub fill up with people who'd rather be the women-hating incels that all feminists say we are, than actually give a fuck about men's issues. OP co-opted this workplace safety issue to cover his own insecurity. No, the pandemic did not make men safer at work.

A gap in physical safety in a corporate setting is extraordinarily low - because the overall risk for occupational hazards is extraordinarily low. This is why we corporate sellouts gotta go through those hour-long slips/trips/falls video training - because the highest rate of injury in these cases is people literally tripping over themselves (followed closely by bad ergonomics) My point in my original comment was that, sure - OP can rest easy knowing that some random woman won't accuse him of …

You have absolutely no data to support the idea that there is a gender gap of safety. Yes, I do have that data. Bro like what are you talking about. This is a core issue for MRAs.

That's fair, but realize there's at least a small difference between interacting with coworkers at a diner, and interacting with coworkers in a corporate setting When we point out the gender gap of safety in the workplace, we're not talking about cubicles.

I'm just gonna say... if your top fear is meeting alone with a woman in the workplace, then... you're living an OK life. I'm sure male doctors, garbage collectors, grocery store employees, cooks, and emergency response folks felt a LOT safer at work during the pandemic. SMH

The thing I don't understand about this type of framing is.... what the hell does "white" or "whiteness" mean? Who's white? Who's not white? I've asked many, many times - both towards useful tools, and those who see this movement as an opportunity to get an edge in life. I've never gotten a straight answer. I'm Cuban-American (first generation born here) - we were proclaimed "white" by CNN after Cubans in Miami-Dade broke for Trump in 2020. Asians were considered "white" until this year. If …

Hey man, I'm kinda boomer on this, but I'm gonna teach my kids that sex is a powerful, powerful thing, and should ONLY be considered with someone you trust enough with your life. On top of the "allegations are most likely automatically treated as fact" thing, she has the power to decide how often you see your child, how much you have to pay to see the child you can't see - and even whether your child lives or dies. In some states she can also decide to put you down as the father, regardless of…

Cassie Jaye is a perfect example - the example she set, and the response to it, illustrates exactly the kind of toxicity that keeps the movement going. Her crime was only sitting down, listening, and asking follow-up questions to try to understand who she was interviewing - not to trap them.

I'm not the person to explain this to you, as I don't think the thesis of feminism, as a way of understanding the world, is sufficiently honest or interesting. What I have noticed is that most feminists I've talked to are surprised to hear some of the destructive power dynamics created by the "patriarchy" concept, and typically do not themselves hold super regressive ideas - they're just fooled by the fallacy that feminism, broadly, stands for gender equity. Once you get out of Reddit, Twitt…

Yo, how about a different type of suggestion - Whenever you encounter something you disagree with - seek to understand it. By allowing yourself to be curious to perspectives you don't understand, or disagree with (even to the point of being open that you're partially wrong about something), not only do you color your conversational approach in a more productive way that makes "arguments" rare, but you end up solidifying your view into something that makes more sense, and is easier to charita…

There was a really great post in here a few days ago quoting Karen Straughn's response to this. I suggest reading it, it's poignant. I'm mobile so can't find the link, but I'll put my own words along similar lines Every day, there are legislators, journalists, and activists perpetuating lopsided beliefs and policies, which are far from "equal rights." They all call themselves feminist. They all affect how the male gender is allowed to live and express itself. They all call masculinity "toxic." T…

Thanks for being open and reaching out. I haven't read the other comments in reply, but I hope you're getting the kind of info you're looking for. Personally, my main problem with the more recent brands of feminism is this notion of us VS them, or one side having it worse. The more anybody on either side takes that kind of mindset, the less we can work together to get things done. We kinda bring up two types of issues here : Problems that actually affect both genders, but feminist activists and …

Like, after you've established you're the father, she blows past that and still demands parental power in that moment. As if she's going to only release this child until the right parent comes to get her. You're a bigger person than I. Regardless of what anybody thinks, it is never OK to grab someone without their consent. 99% of the population understands the struggles of public transportation, and even if you had accidentally bumped against her, the more normal reaction, from a standard human being, would have been to just say something like "excuse me, can you be more careful? You keep bumping me." What she did was to use forceful physicality to create a situation where you probably didn't know how far she was going to take…

Not necessarily. There are butt loads of degrees that can't get you a job, or are very difficult to get a job with. It still comes down to personal choice and making a responsible one, but there are other variables to the college - > pay correlation. If they wanna take all the liberal arts degrees and complain about debt and wages, fine by me - they did that to themselves. But I'd watch out for Stem degrees and see if that gap is closing

Catholic here Circumcision was a Jewish tradition that St. Paul essentially successfully did away with in Christianity. The council of Jerusalem in the first century AD essentially concluded that you didn't have to be jewish in order to be a follower of Christ - therefore as part of that, circumcision was removed as a requirement of baptism. The US is the only first world nation where a majority of Christian males are circumcised. > The subreddit, and the movement itself, runs on hatred. Hatred of a system that paints men as disposable? That says that it's not ok for women to die, to be homeless, to be sexually and physically abused, but doesn't say the same for men? That paints men as the root cause for all gender disparity, and oppressive forces for females? If so, then... guilty as charged I guess.
