No lol. That's my point. The small number of people who are highly involved seek it out themselves. Obviously there needs to be some awareness, but we all know there's starving kids in Africa, an hiv epidemic, sex trafficking in Thailand, clean water crisis etcetera.

I want to agree with you. However, I've worked for charity organizations on two continents and I can honestly say I don't think that's accurate. 90% of people don't give a shit about your cause. It costs money to raise awareness. You would be surprised at what you can accomplish by yourself with the money you would otherwise spend on "raising awareness". Granted, I'm not saying it's not important. But... After having my feet on the ground for a year in Thailand I really think the most important …

I never said anything about stoicism. I simply think it's pedantic to even mention that Google didn't acknowledge the day. If a woman was upset about not getting a cartoon for women's day I'd say the same thing. I have to point out that the qualities of a stoic that you mentioned are simply qualities of a good person regardless of sex/gender. What you said sounds downright sexist to me.
