Anthropologically, it goes back to the time when you had to have tons of kids to make sure one or two survived to adulthood, so women were pretty much pregnant or nursing all the time. A man's value to the tribe was determined by his ability to do the things a pregnant/nursing person could not: hard labor, hunting, warring, etc.

Except insofar as we are fighting for the right to intact genitals, the right of a father to raise his children, the right of the accused to remain anonymous until proven guilty, the right for men to opt out of parenthood if so desired, the right for a man to not lose his livelihood after a divorce, etc. These are legal issues, and "rights issues" is a proper descriptor.

I'm not asking about applying these terms to others, I'm asking about the recent trend of people applying these terms to themselves, and whether it's a distinction they really need to be advertising. I've seen it in America, and cultural relativism is bunk, so it doesn't matter if I've seen it in India or not. Indian mens rights groups are campaigning against false accusations and laws that certain women exploit. And those are legitimate issues. People lacking social graces is not a legitimate issue.

Question: does this represent simply the odds of someone being imprisoned, the odds of ACCUSED people being imprisoned, or the odds of GUILTY people being imprisoned? Because the first two would leave open the possibility that men are simply commiting more or worse crimes, which wouldn't really help our case. Oh we agree on that. The "wrongs" I was referring to were the arrests. The gist of the operation is "We've been arresting the prostitutes, but it turns out a lot of them are forced into it, so now we're arresting and publicly shaming the johns instead to rectify that."

I actually agree with the second sentence. The "want" or "desire" to engage in a sexual act should have no legal bearing on whether the act was consensual or not. "Unwanted sex" does not equal "forced sex." Now, I wonder if she would apply the same logic to a female who has unwanted, but ultimately consensual, sex?

Bigotry can come from any direction: those with more power can be bigoted against those with less, vice versa, or it can have absolutely nothing to do with power.
