Your story sounds just like mine. My wife manipulated my sons to think I'd been violent when I hadn't. She left me and now asks how I can live with myself. She's so sorry now. And my life is great. Done with bitches. Not worth the trouble if you can't trust them, and you can't.

"Choose not to be harmed—and you won’t feel harmed. Don’t feel harmed—and you haven’t been." -Marcus Arelius This quote has helped me a lot. It's like a superpower. But I remember that this previously seemed impossible. Time makes it easier.

I used to value myself based on the perceived satisfaction of my wife. My sit. was unique because of being a SAHD. I was always concerned with how she felt and what she thought - for 30 years. The last couple of years, we couldn't agree about anything. Everything I did was wrong. The loyalty, the honesty, none of it made any difference. She seemed determined to crap on everything. Now that she's gone, I have the life I've always wanted. No more awful in-laws, no more stupid opinions about everyt…

I'm recently divorced in WA. If anyone should have gotten decent alimony, it was my case. 29 year marriage, had nothing when we met, she became very successful making $300k. Me, SAHD. Her income was $18k/ month Mine was zero. She left me. I hadn't worked in years. I got $2k/month for one year. + child support. TBH, I'd be very surprised if you got anything based on your circumstances.

If you are calculating the potential alimony from "the online alimony calculator" for your state, it doesn't mean anything. My divorce lawyer told me this. WA state alimony calculator said I should get $5k per month for life, but, it basically comes down to whatever you and your lawyer can negotiate. I wound up getting $2k per month for 1 year, for a 29 year marriage and she made over $300k. Like buying a car, it's really about the entire "deal" than the "price".

This happened to me! I, (55m) SAHD, . We met at 19. We both had nothing. Wife (54f) made $300-400k/yr We were married 29y, together 35y, 2 sons. Craziest reason for divorce I've ever heard, and it's mine. My son is hospitalized by a teacher at school. (head injury, 4 days in IC unit) The teacher lied to my face about what happened. I demand the teacher be fired. The school has ME trespassed by the police for "threatening the school" Of course I never made any threats of violence, I made threats …

50-50 is the default. What makes you think that she will be able to change that? Her lawyer would have to argue for that.

My wife made $350k, 2 kids, 29 year marriage. (Me 55m) SAHD, no income. She just left one day. No infidelity, no drinking, no violence. I got $2k/month for one year in WA. Turned out to be the best thing for me but definitely not for her.

Comments are spot on. I recently got divorced in WA. I never cheated or even lied to my wife in 29 years of marriage. Two teenage sons. I was a SAHD with no income financially dependent on my wife when she left. She disclosed 17 pages of exaggerations and half truths, which made me sound terrible. None of it mattered, and she wound up paying me huge. Hurray for equal rights.

She left the family home. My lawyer cost me $6k. But I did a lot of the work about valuating all the assets. I assume that's why it was so cheap for me. In fact I didn't believe my son when he said that his mom paid $45k. But apparently, that's how much she actually paid.

Most likely, the gloves will come off quickly and that feeling that you describe will just disappear on its own. I won't take long.

Yes, all of this. The inability to think ahead, the feelings, the word deserve, the self delusion. The fabricated stories that always explain how she's the victim. She's so sure of herself that she'll throw everyone's lives into expensive chaos. And turn around with a straight face and say she had no choice. I hear and feel your story because I lived it. You sound like a better man than me. She's so frickin sorry now but would never admit she f'ed up. I wish I had better news for you but the bes…

If believe that taking responsibility for controlling one's own feelings is the next logical step after taking responsibility for one's own actions. For instance, I once become angry and smashed one of my kids' toys. And if you asked me why, I'd have said that, he made me angry. I don't even remember what the specific situation was. But I remember having to check myself and be honest about what happened. Whatever my son did that "made" me angry, was not the issue. The issue is why can't I deal w…

It's really a matter of perspective. I got a nice house that's paid for. Plus, I got child support and just the better end of the deal. But you are correct, I basically lost about half of everything I had. But I thought I was going to lose everything. She got half our life savings of about $2mil. I got the house and cars. Which mean that I don't have much savings / retirement. But I made the conscious decision to appreciate look at the glass as half full.

I struggled with this also. In counseling, I learned that anger has an element of self justification built into it. You can't be angry without believing that you are in the right. I'm not saying that you're wrong, just that we need to become responsible for our own feelings. It's bitch thinking. This was the first epiphany that I had. I would often blame my wife for feeling stupid things. She came to some ridiculous conclusions about all kinds of things that were just not logical. The point is t…

I live in WA state, and the online calculator (same as CA), said that because our marriage was 29 years, and she made $300k, I made zero. (SAHD), alimony should be $3500/month for life. What I actually got was $2k/month for one year. My lawyer did say that if I were a woman I'd have gotten a lot more for a lot longer. Of course all of this was determined in mediation. Actually taking this in front of a judge would have cost $3500 per day just for my lawyer fees instead of just $400/hour. Inciden…

All of this is predicated on you two not being able to work it out. My hope is that you two will keep the family together. But if you can't.... I went through a similar sit. She made 8x what I made, so we agreed that I'd be SAHD. FF 10 years. In my case, and probably yours, she lost respect for me because she went from looking up to me, or at least level, to looking down at me. Suffice to say these deep-rooted resentments manifest themselves in very unsuspecting ways. We spent 35 years together …

When our sons school called the cops on me, for demanding that the teacher who broke my sons skull be fired. The cop was even on my side but not my wife. Yep, 4 days in intensive care. My wife attacked my character. She would bend her logic to make everything my fault. This is what empowered women do.

Wanna know your real motivations? Ask yourself if you'd be as interested in your new relationship if sex wasn't ever going to happen. I predict that few men would even be interested in finding a new relationship. For me, at age 54, after divorce from a 30-year marriage. Women look like lying manipulative cunts. Yep all of them. Sexual manipulation is in their DNA.

Friend, you are absolutely making a HUGE mistake not getting a lawyer. My lawyer didn't cost me a penny, considering how much $ she saved me. If I had done it all alone, I would be much poorer today. I hear how badly you just want her gone, but gone with the majority of your assets won't help that feeling. Total cost in WA state: $3500. In mediation, she gave me excellent advice that saved me at least $500k. Seriously, the best money I ever spent.

Thanks for asking. Yes they believed me because many of her lies concerned them and so credibility wasn't an issue. My oldest son is away at 4th year of university. We share my youngest son.

Fellow SAHD here. Our divorce happened 2 years ago. 29 years married, together 35. Two boys in college. She made huge $, and I was completely financially dependent on her. Turned out to be the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. But I thought it would be the worst. Make sure that she leaves you, not the other way around. Equality, I love it. I kept the house the best cars, and she pays me $2k per month alimony. And she's so pissed about it.

My ex wife made $350k, and I stayed home and took care of most everything else. It was fine until she betrayed me and refused to accept responsibility. Long story short, she moved out, and I got $3k per month for a year. Plus I kept the house which is paid for. She sounds like a victim but she made the decision to leave.

I felt the same way but I did what she said and my concerns were all addressed to my satisfaction in the end. Trust your lawyer and whatever you do, don't say anything that you will regret.

Of course. Never cheated. I don't even drink. She left because I discovered that she had been telling my sons lies about me and we all sat down to face her with the lies. She moved out within a week of that.

I know. And I only get it for 2 years. My lawyer said if I was a woman, I'd have gotten probably 10 years or maybe life. Because we were married 29 years. So is gender equality even a thing?

Yep, I got 2 years at $2k per month, plus child support. My lawyer said if our gender roles were reversed, I would have gotten maintenance for much longer, possibly for life, I'm 54. My wife scoffed when I said she was going to be so sorry, as she abandoned our family. It was as if she had never heard of alimony. I say hooray for gender equality.

Thanks to all who responded. I believe there are genuine people here who have the best of intentions. It really does help knowing that. One more detail that won't surprise anyone: She claims mental and physical abuse. Really? Why don't you have one single picture of said abuse? You didn't think to take a selfie? That shit better not be believed. I'm proud of myself for never putting my hands on her in anger. I believe her lies and exaggerations will be self evident to anyone with an open mind. B…

Friend, The majority of men here have felt exactly what you do right now, and we're all thinking the same thing: You just dodged a bullet but you can't see the forest through the trees. I couldn't either. But you won't have to experience this with kids. Honestly, this is the best thing that could happen to you because anyone who would do as you've indicated, is trouble. Resist that urge. The satisfaction that you think you'll get won't be worth how would it look if and when that information ever gets in front of a judge. I completely understand the feeling though. Men follow principals and logic. Bitches follow their feelings. Just my $.02.

There was a time when I didn't think that I could live without sex from my wife. I didn't want to be with anyone but her and if I went a week without it, I was hurt and upset. What a little bitch I was. Eventually she became repulsive to me. We men give away all our power because of sex. I'm in the middle of a very ugly divorce and to be honest, women look repulsive to me right now. My need for it, was my biggest weakness. Now that it's under control, I can focus on what's more important. Just m…

The problem is that no man ever gets portrayed as a "good dad". Women always seem to play the victim. Remember that moving forward, everything you say, can and will be used against you. If you a hundred positive things and one negative thing, guess which one will be remembered? You have to be in complete control of yourself at all times. Don't give her anything that can be used as ammunition.

If that were the case, at least I could understand. She claimed that she was afraid that our two boys would be kicked out of the school. That was never going to happen because practically everyone was on my side. She was afraid of what everyone would say.

When I was 19, my girlfriend said that her mom allowed her to get on the pill. (I knew it sounded too good to be true) I never saw any pills but I reminded her every day not to forget. Wait for it...she got pregnant and I would go on to pay child support until she was 18. I would later find out that she never was on the pill.

She left about a month ago because I said that I don't love her anymore. But I still love my kids. She left in spite of me trying to stop her. The more that I told her that she can't leave the more it made her want to leave. It's exactly what was mentioned it before when they get power they get arrogant. But this won't play very well in court so now she's manufactured a new narrative where I'm an abuser although I've never laid a finger on her in 35 years.

I'm currently divorcing my STBXW, who moved out, left me with a 16 year old and a university student who is home because of the pandemic. I haven't worked in 12 years because she makes big bucks and we agreed on this arrangement until she moved out. Now I'm a lazy, abuser who refuses to work. I've been loyal and supportive for 29 years. When we met we were still students and she admired my work ethic but everything changes when you get divorced.

Yes, exactly. Our kids went to private school and there was no bus service. She wore her independence as a badge of honor. Never depend upon a man for security, she would tell her daughters if she had any. Her success in business was the source of the downfall of our marriage. Joe Rogan said it best. Tall women have a hard time finding an even taller husband because they want to talk up to their partner, not down. We literally never had a single fight about money. Now that we're split, it's all …

I feel your pain bro. Indulge me while I vent. Those backstabbing bitches. I'm just a month into the process of dividing a lifetime of property, and obligations. I've now been on both sides of the child support debate. My girlfriend got pregnant on purpose, when I was 18. I paid that shit until my daughter was 18. I'm thankful for all the good information and advice. Thanks guys. I'm going to agree to 50 -50. After hearing that she won't really be able to make him go, the rest will just work out naturally. I was afraid that she'd be able to bring cops to my house in order to make him go. That seems unlikely now that I hear from others. I gotta be better than always assuming a worst case scenario. That's bitch thinking. My bad.
