Reading the details of the FGM involved in this situation makes it clear that it is a monstrous practice. Though I do believe that some forms of FGM are on par with male circumcision, this is not one of them.

Many people see violence against male sex offenders as acceptable. Officially charged female sex offenders are rare and don't inspire vigilante justice. Attacking sex offenders is probably viewed with a similar acceptance rate as beheading for apostasy in the Muslim world which is pretty damn high. EDIT: I realized the comparison might require some explanation. I used it because people may not do it themselves but being an apologist can be as good as condoning it.

While I find no problems with most of what you're saying, I do disagree about the supposed synthesis involved in your cited example. Breast cancer is overwhelmingly a female disease and prostate cancer a very similarly common issue with men. Through simple inference you can deduce that for something so similar to be treated so differently is an issue for those who are affected negatively. Does synthesis go so far as to disallow basic logic to be used to demonstrate conclusions?

I really feel like it's more closely related to the time spent and care taken with the kids. I agree that fathers can have a great positive impact on children but really it appears to be more closely tied to there just being more attention paid. Teachers don't have enough time to monitor their students as closely as they might need to. EDIT: It just seems like an example of "Correlation does not equal causation."
