I’m glad I had it done as a baby and all my sons honestly say the same thing. Reading through the comments here it seems that the pressure, condemnation and shame is way more intense from the don’t do it side. It’s a choice, do your research and decide what you agree with. Don’t feel pressured one way or the other.

Judging by the comments I might be done with this sub. A woman comes along and tries to show empathy and understanding and SHE gets berated because of “conservative gender roles” etc.? What is the point in sounding like a male version feminist? Personally I appreciate her understanding, and the timing for me is amazing because this week my wife (and her friends) just told me flat out “fuck your feelings, they’re wrong”. Notwithstanding the contract part, if the partner breaks the vows it becomes the ultimate lie which allows some people to finally move on with their life. Without marriage what’s the harm in breaking up for an hour to cheat? Marriage is the ultimate commitment which can show your partner how much they mean to you. Basically, marriage should be taken super serious and the fact that we’ve cheapened it down so much says volumes about society’s character overall.

If you’re a man and woman of your word yes for sure. If one or both are liars then nope. Lying or not honoring your word is a huge red flag before marriage yet a lot of people hope that for some reason their partner isn’t lying “this time”.

Do not pull the uneducated card because you have zero idea about me. Ridicule is not part of the scientific method for a good reason. I have my educated opinion as do you. Seriously, am I the only one who is glad I had it done before I realized it? No, I’m not because my wife always has been and every single person who I’ve ever asked up until the last month has said yes they were glad too. I have 1 friend who isn’t and he was always upset his parents didn’t do it. But this is simply my experience. Is it necessary? Absolutely not.
