Debates are supposed to be based on provable facts. The slippery slope is a fallacy in a debate because the debate stage is supposed to be an academically sanitized space to discuss a topic by limiting the scope of what can be discussed. The most obvious problem with that approach being the world is not sanitized and its scope is never limited to anything ideal.
