0	Question for my fellow LWMA's, how do we respond to statements such as this one? Do you think treating every member of a group of 4 billion people as if they're potentially a violent member of that group is reasonable? Unironically yes, if the group is oppressive. It is a safety mechanism. This is why I keep going back to race to try and give as clear an example as possible and as a black man myself, it's one I personally relate to. 0	Question for my fellow LWMA's, how do we respond to statements such as this one? It's not a generalization, it's a statistic. I am a man. I'm not innately violent, and men being more likely to be violent is not a negative mark against me or you. I am aware most men are not dangerous. I never said they were. I said men are more likely to commit violent crime. Do you disagree with that? This whole argument is basically going to boil down to whether or not you think women are/have been oppressed. Men are statistically more likely to commit violence. That's an objective fact. Instead of mindlessly denying it, maybe we should examine why that's the case? It is not an attack on your personal character to acknowledge that men are more likely to be violent. And I'm not white, a woman, or even fully straight. Men being more likely to commit crime isn't new, and it's not something that's incapable of changing. Men aren't inherently violent. We're raised/trained to be. Black men are also statistically more likely to commit violent crime. That doesn't make us inherently violent either. I'm not familiar with statistics on gay or trans men. My point is that a woman is not concerned with who's more likely to harm her specifically, but who's more likely to harm anyone. Who are the most likely perpetrators of violent crime? My point is we could apply that same line of thinking to women, right? This just sounds like man vs bear all over again, so I'll make a point that I made when that was relevant: if a black person felt uncomfortable being alone with white people, would they be unjustified? I'd like to hear your answer, but imo it depends. Context matters. If this hypothetical took place in a sundown town, or during the Civil Rights era, then yes absolutely. 1	Question for my fellow LWMA's, how do we respond to statements such as this one? I feel like this paradox can be easily explained by the fact that men are overwhelmingly more likely to be the perpetrators of violent crime. Victimization rates aren't really relevant to the point being made.
