Depends on the legal jurisdiction and/or legal precedents. Marriage has 2 components: a religious component and a legal component. Regarding the legal component, in some jurisdiction the goal is to protect the woman and the courts are very paternalistic about it. In those jurisdictions, a prenup is easy to invalidate or nullify and in some jurisdiction, prenups are not allowed. So a legal research or counsel is necessary before proceeding with a prenup.

I don't think that they could force single men to marry unwedded single mothers, but they definitely would raise the taxes for childless single men and create big tax breaks or tax income deductibles for the men that marry a single woman with kids and adopt the kids.

Coming from a man married for 28+ years and an ex-family/divorce attorney, your comment hit on the target. Good answer, which I agree with. I will only add that after getting ALL the benefits and status that women could derive from men, there is no benefit for a woman to stay in a marriage. In fact, by leaving the marriage she gets more benefits.
