After 20 years she blindsides me with “i dont want to be married anymore”Get a lawyer before you move out. Tell her to plan on 50/50 custody. That’s best for the kid. And depending on your state she will owe you part of the value of the house, retirement savings, sounds like she will be paying you child support. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/03/25 12:07 PM
What to do with the house when my wife wants to keep it but cant afford the mortgage? Would it be dumb to become her landlord?Do you want to continue to be responsible for all her maintenance needs? No way in hell I would give my ex a glass of water. I’m sure not going to install appliances or fix anything that breaks for her. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/02/25 10:30 PM
Question for man that asked for the divorce and have kid/s with their wife?Ask yourself how/why you let that happen. Work on it. Did you say vows? Have you been lusting for other women? Watching porn? Self therapy, couples therapy. Have the hard conversations with your wife. I think it’s best if you leave no stone unturned to save your marriage. Love is a verb. I initiated the separation and divorce after 20 years because she had cheated and likely was still. I held on for my family and kids for way too long. Ultimately every bid for connection and communication was de… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/09/24 12:32 PM
Question for man that asked for the divorce and have kid/s with their wife?Loving your children doesn’t mean you stay and absorb the abuse and disrespect from your wife. Leaving your wife does not equal abandoning your children. Both husbands and wives make mistakes and do horrible things. Sometimes those mistakes mean the end of the relationship. Deciding to leave is not what causes the destruction of the family, it’s the mistakes and disrespect that causes it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/24 11:08 PM
Feeling empty and done.Update guys. I did get a ride Sunday afternoon. I am managing getting to work better this week so far, and I got up early this morning and got a cardio workout before getting the kids up. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/09/24 10:28 PM
Feeling empty and done.Separated. She moved out. Division of assets I probably can’t afford to buy out her equity. Per typical narcissist she already has a new supply | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/24 02:14 AM
Feeling empty and done.Solid advise. I’ve been trying to get myself out to an MTB trail all week. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/24 05:51 PM
Feeling empty and done.I have 7 years till my youngest graduates. I don’t really know what I’ll do after that. I love my family dearly but I just don’t want to do anything any more. Hopefully find some meaning before then and hope there is something left of me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/24 03:35 PM
No contact with kids 50/50Sorry not talking about treating the kids any differently. Just the ex. She’s the biggest child here. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/08/24 11:22 AM
Why does she keep asking me to hang out with her and the kids? She wants that family time that she threw away. Not your job to provide and protect on her time anymore. Let her know you can take the kids more if she needs it but I wouldn’t spend any time with her | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/24 10:55 PM
Wife said to husband "I'll just fuck someone else"After seeing your screenshots in the other subs, I would say lot more of that last sentence. Do you love her? Want to be married? | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/24 04:35 PM
Wife said to husband "I'll just fuck someone else"At least she was upfront with it. She cheated or is very close to doing so. Having been through cheating I would just go ahead and start the divorce. If you both want to work on the marriage you can but I would put the onus on her to initiate and plan counseling and improvement efforts. Freaking wash yourself and brush your teeth before going to bed maybe that’s all she really wants. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/24 04:07 PM
I know many of you have been through some real shit - my situation is mild in comparison but i could use some advice…Plus you should gently put it to her that you’re not feeling deeply connected. Perhaps she has some work to do as well. It would be good if she has a heads up about the issues you’re thinking about. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/07/24 07:32 PM
What songs helped you ?My mental health wasn’t in a good place to begin with and the discovery of the cheating was a real hit. Linkin park was in heavy rotation. Battle Symphony, Iridescent, Nobody Can Save Me, Waiting For the End. Gordy Keifer, Red Line. MISSIO, Middle Fingers Ren, Hi NF, The Search I can’t say these songs helped but they are the ones that resonated with me for a long time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/24 12:42 AM
Just discovered long affair while on vacationIt would be great if you could take your daughter and go home early with her. Let the in-laws know why and get the hell out of there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/07/24 03:16 AM
Who initiated the separation/divorce? You or the wife?I initiated separation and divorce in progress, after she initiated lying, affairs, and running up credit cards. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/07/24 03:30 PM
At the point I feel I’m only here as a responsibility to my kids. She didn’t leave with the children. But she does get them. Very little at first and now about half the time. It would be about impossible in my state to keep her from having them 50%. Unless I can show abuse, danger, drugs or other illegal activity. If we battle that out I’d likely get less time with them and pay more child support. That’s just the society we live in. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/07/24 03:45 AM
Disdain. What’s something you can do or think or say to facilitate this? I get enraged when I see and think about my kids spending time with the cheating bitch and her AP. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/07/24 01:24 AM
At the point I feel I’m only here as a responsibility to my kids.Thank you. I did manage to go for a mountain bike ride to day with my free time. I must do more of that. And I agree fitness should be a big goal for me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/24 08:44 PM
At the point I feel I’m only here as a responsibility to my kids. That’s my worry. I don’t feel like a good man or father with the way I’m feeling now. Utterly useless. I’m barely able to provide for and care for my children everything else is pain and bitterness. I was in therapy before the separation I stopped as I was ridiculed by my wife for it. I know I need to get started back up but right now I can logically make it make sense to do so. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/24 08:37 PM
