She could have walked away long before anything happened - I am not saying his actions were without question but I can at least understand how her choice to spew shit at him and expect no response backfired.

Look if I am standing in front of an enraged Black man throwing racial epithets and he throws a punch I caused that to happen. I am not endorsing physical violence but if I push someone to that point all the free speech protection in the world isn't coming to my aid when anger spills over. Waaaaay before he throws the first punch you can see what's coming. She didn't back down she doubled down and the right hand of justice hit her square on the chin. I am not condoning the violence just saying t…

Freedom of speech allows you say whatever you want but if it has consequences that's on you. You want to say racist things you can say those all you want but that doesn't mean bad things aren't going to happen to you if you do

I am less worried about M-103 as any law meant to be an anti-blasphemy law I think has an uphill battle at best. I mean a simple motion caused this much back and forth can you imagine a true bill with any weight I don't see it happening. It does mean we pay attention to future moves to introduce legislation but I am less concerned with this than Bill 89. In regards to Bill 89 the key bone of contention is the sexual identity clause and I don't expect this to just be used arbitrarily but in extre…

Bill m-103 is a non-binding motion on it's face it literally calls for a condemnation of Islamaphobia - now from this point forward we'll have to watch but there is no law out of this motion only a call to condemn actions against a group of people. Now on bill 89 - I haven't looked into it as much beyond that is allows trans people to be recognised and add protections in-place for children. Neither is free speech impacting as such - you can say you don't support gay marriage or disagree with the…

Yeah we (Canada) provide UI (unemployment insurance) during this time. So the workplace might offer several weeks of coverage at full salary then the rest goes to UI (which we pay into each pay) then you draw on that during the rest of the time. So my wife with my first son took the year and then with my second she took the year and 6 months leave of absence. We knew her job was safe and it takes a lot of pressure off which is already a pretty intense time. I can't imagine someone saying "quit y…

Yeah I don't agree with this at all to be honest. In Canada leave is up to a year and can be split between both parents with guarantee of their job when they return. This is an issue that impact both sides as if my wife and I decide to have a child last thing I want to get in the way is that we can't support our new family.

Agreed - no catchy youtube campaigns or open discussions about why there aren't more male teachers.

The issue I find is STEM is being pushed hard to get women into the field and between preferential spots in programs (and scholarships) and eventual hiring you leave a whole bunch of guys coming up who have to battle for spots in programs not to mention increased competition in the eventual job markets. As of right now if you are female with a STEM degree and apply for a job you have a greater chance of a position strictly because of the optics of a company showing "see we hire women ...". No on…

Where was the teacher before the first punch was thrown - seriously everytime I watch one of these it's the same shit. Girl is going at a guy he asks her to stop over and over then she throws a punch he comes back at her THEN comes the teacher

By being nice he defused a situation without the need to yell or have to use threats - if all cops were half this nice it would go a long way.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
