How much alimony do you have to pay and child support?100% agreed! And I can't claim the children so I get fucked every which way possible. The system is broken. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/07/26 07:46 PM
How much alimony do you have to pay and child support?Paying $3200/mo child support, $4400/mo alimony for a grand total of $7600/mo. Makes me want to vomit every time I see it come out of my bank account. She was a SAHM and barely works a below minimum wage job at the kids school. Unbelievable how it's legal to do absolutely nothing and feel entitled to that much money without contributing in any way. We are 5 years post divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/07/26 07:41 PM
Can't leave her because of kidsI divorced a similar person. It was hell and I would do it all over again if I had to. You are teaching your children what a toxic relationship looks like, so expect them to model it. I lost a lot of $$ but got 50/50 custody. I have earning potential, she is a loser. I'll be fine and most importantly, the kids are much better off. Life is short - you aren't forced to suffer, you are choosing it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/07/26 02:50 PM
Changing Divorce AttorneysI'm on my third attorney and all have been complete dog shit useless. They're lazy, unresponsive, but great at billing hours. I also have a PC who literally didn't respond to 50+ violations of our custody order but sympathized with my ex because "I was a single mom so I can relate to how hard it is". So single dads are just fucked? Zero repercussions. Family law is extortion and should be criminal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/05/26 02:37 AM
Always Get The Most Time With Your Kids That You Can In Preliminary OrdersThis x 1000000. I fought like hell just to get 50/50 with someone with an obvious personality disorder who thought she deserved full custody. The system is rigged against men so go all in and negotiate from there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/05/26 01:43 AM
What would it take for you to rekindle your love with your ex-wife?Hell freezing over. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/04/26 05:08 PM
Accepting you're done with for lifeYou're teaching your kids how to have a miserable relationship and tolerate dysfunction. It's so damaging to kids and I wish people would stop using them as an excuse to stay together. My kids are WAY happier now that we're divorced because they see two happy parents in two happy relationships instead of two people that hated each other and they lived amongst constant tension. Religion is a terrible reason to stay married and just proves how outdated it all is. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/04/26 07:19 PM
Divorce asset allocation in high earnersDoctor here who was in a similar situation. They will split all assets 50:50 irrespective of who earned the money. It’s all “marital property”. You will get hosed 8 ways to Sunday, get pissed, and not be able to do anything about it. Courts are set up to favor stay-at-home moms. It’s not right but it’s how it is. Expect to pay half the length of the marriage in alimony plus child support. I pay my sociopathic, personality-disordered, lazy ex-wife $8k/mo. She got me for 6.5 years alimony but than… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/04/26 02:50 PM
Financial slaveryI pay my ex 75% of my net salary each month ($7600/mo). The legal system is dramatically skewed to favor the woman who didn't work. And since the law changed a couple years ago, I can't deduct any of this. So 40% of my salary gets taken for taxes, THEN I pay her, and she doesn't have to pay tax on it. It's utterly absurd. You can have income imputed on her but will need to prove she can work. Did she have a previous job and elect to stop working? Basically, can you prove she can make $X a year? … | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/03/26 02:21 PM
Lifetime Support after half decade marriageMy ex threatened me almost every day with stuff like this. I spent a ton of money getting legal advice on how to be prepared, only for none of it to go anywhere. Scared people threaten, bully, intimidate - it's because there is no case. Lifetime alimony really doesn't exist, especially for only a 5 year marriage. No judge on earth would give that to her. If she makes more than you, she'll be paying YOU alimony. She's not living in reality. Ignore her threats. Use Our Family Wizard so every commu… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/26 09:17 PM
Wife filed.This is the best advice ever. Seriously. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/25 03:07 AM
Just miss her.You are describing a toxic relationship. But you’re probably not ready to admit that. Most people don’t get there because it’s hard work to figure that out. Hopefully you do because your life will be infinitely happier once you realize how to get your needs met without emotional abuse. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/02/25 04:42 AM
Won but Feel BadIt’s wild how emotions can literally bankrupt you. Our kids could’ve gone to college with all that money but no, she wanted to pitch massive temper tantrums like a child. Hopefully you’re on the other end of it. I mostly am but parallel parenting with someone like this is like walking on a tightrope holding a nuclear bomb. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/02/25 07:56 PM
Won but Feel BadSame! And almost $100k in legal fees. Like everyone said from the beginning, the only people that make out in a divorce are attorneys. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/02/25 07:31 PM
Won but Feel BadI pay my ex $4800/mo in alimony + $3200 in child support while she deliberately works a job that pays a poverty wage even though she’s earned 4 times that before. The legal system is absolutely fucked. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/02/25 07:05 PM
