I'm sorry that happened to you and that people haven't given you the treatment deserved in the past, but I suspect we're talking at crossed purposes. It sucks that you and lots of other victims have had to self-validate / not had appropriate recognition for what you've been through, but I'm a little but unclear how that relates to OP possibly downplaying one specific individual's suffering. I hope you have or can find the right sort of support to heal from what's happened to you.

As in my earlier comment, I'm not saying it's a sample size to base any wider judgements on. But characterising it as one example rather than 51 examples seems a bit of a dismissive attitude given the severity of what happened to the victim.

A quick Google suggests it was 51. That particular case is literally mid trial so I guess we're looking at it critically to find out the truth right now.

Your point about the huge generalisation being unfair is valid, but the specific story of that woman being abused for decades in France isn't really one example, it's as many examples as there are people who raped / assaulted / abused her as well as the husband. Everyone who abused that woman is an example. I think your characterisation somewhat downplays the scale of the abuse in that particular woman's life.
