Closed cases are better than lengthy trials. Prosecutors offer deals to the criminals. If the criminal accepts lesser charges, they get lighter sentence. This counts as a win for the prosecutor and the criminals walk away with a light sentence. Its how the Justice system works. Prosecutors are basically as shitty as most lawyers. They don't actually give a shit about justice but more so about winning the case. But presumably the judge signed off on this too so....
