Christian and Islamic marriage laws exist so that, ideally, there will be no children born of uncertain parentage. E.g. in Islam, the man can undo his Islamic marriage with a sentence, but the woman has to wait three months before being in private with a different, unrelated, man. If she misses her period during that time they are supposed to negotiate. Some women love these rules and the structure they provide, others moan about how oppressive they are vs the woman's sexual freedom, No doubt …

This seems close to the ancient Greek term "arete". I was introduced to the term as meaning excellence in all things. Wikipedia suggests it is a general term, so a kind of wide excellence, but not necessarily in all things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arete The pattern of being excellent in work and nothing else is an easy trap to fall into. A free market usually wants the very best, and as a result the very best in a niche can be well rewarded. But social life is not a "niche".

Husband-wife teams mixed with other employees are a mixed bag, they can be OK (if they occupy the top two spots in the hierarchy), but they are awful if they are mixed in as equals. They bypass all the normal communication channels. All men in the hunting party (oops: startup). If women want to start up an all-woman hunting party, go for it.

Men aren't the only ones demanding men-only workplaces. A second- or third-generation tech startup is going to have older guys running it, they will all be successful and often attached, their wives and girlfriends usually know a thing or two about keeping other women at bay. The women aren't going to OK their meal ticket working long hours with other women. Women gradually start coming on board in positions where one of the honcho's wives can still have them fired, e.g. office manager or recept…

50 years ago employment was a better deal, (Some) manual labor professions had a semblance of job security. One could buy a house in urban/suburban US with three times annual income, which was enough. A woman could raise a family and live in a white picket fence house from the work of one breadwinning manual labor man, in other words. That is tougher today. Social media encouraging fours to aim for nines is an additional problem.

This. Life isn't going to get any easier buying $1200 Christmas presents. Buy them a box of crayons, or make presents, until finances are sorted. The sooner they turn 18 and get a job, the sooner they can buy $1200 whatevers.

Announcements of childhood (sub-18) sexual or near-sexual connections, 30 years later, with a now-powerful person, are a signalling mechanism. The trick is to get lots of attention, and to get many people to acknowledge a connection, but not as a "loose woman" or a "kiss-and-tell".

Roger Federer was crowned Oldest Number One Ever, at age 36, this year. That's abnormal, not normal. Serena can be proud of her immense achievements. It's a physical sport, losing her crown at age 36 is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Drama gone? gendercritical slated for termination? Also The_Donald and theredpill? Always fun to watch a website self-destruct. I guess. Serena Williams. 36 years old, beaten by a 20 year old. It's called the changing of the guard. Happens in every sport except perhaps shuffleboard.

Follow the money. Nobody cashes in if he chooses his bedtime.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
