17 is the age of consent in Tx. However, tje law still says it's illegal if the person has 'power' over the other. Like a teacher, therapist, etc... So it's not necessarily the age, legally.

You were almost righteous until you got to the 'disrespecting' remark. That's a huge red flag in the "too immature to have this conversation" zone.
