Me: I know it's from an old TV show, ... You: That’s a TV show, not reality. Sharpest tool in the shed there, aren't you?

Oh, I see, sorry! Will edit and delete it now. (And may I say you seem to be a very reasonable mod.)

Well, I guess you're the mod and understands how this works.

4.No Circlejerking The primary litmus test the mods use to determine if content is circle jerking is Does this offer something beyond rhetoric? So if I literally just edit it to delete this line This has just cope written all over it. It will be OK?

Sorry, but which rule is this? I'm just looking through the 14 in the side bar and can't see a reference to "cope rebuttal" anywhere. Also, since I explain in some detail what is meant is the issue the use of the word "cope" or is it the entire message?

Is one morally worse than the other? If so, why? No, but that's because they are two variants of the same thing. Crudely put: In both cases, the supply is nowhere near to meeting the demand. In both cases, it's the limits on the supply leading to these outcomes. Most women most of the time would be horrified of the thought of sex with a random stranger (and with very good reason). Yet, it does happen. Something will happen in a small number of women's lives that eventually makes her decide "Fuck…

I just dont think the modern women is concerned about such outdated societal expectations. Also, speaking of projection, the very idea that you consider yourself representative in this regard speaks volumes.

My fear is that I will live my life without really living. But apparently that one isn't that big either, because what else would I be doing on Reddit? He he he.

So being alone is by far better than living with a abusive son of a bastard. This is without a doubt true. But I also think it's true that the kind of woman who has found herself in an abusive relationship also needs to consider her own contribution to her own situation. I know that sounds harsh and expect to be downvoted for it - but CBT (i.e. cognitive behavioural therapy) would, I think, work wonders on helping some women recognise the warning signs way earlier.

in the face of all evidence OK, a few points here: First, have you ever heard of the Milgram experiment? Basically, it's a warning to keep your wits about you any and every time you hear the word "A study says ...", usually reported second or third hand in a source with a very obvious bias. For instance: Of course men want children more than women do - Feminist Current. Second, you have to click on all the links they provide. So for example, that Feminist Current piece begins like this: Women. T…

Statistically, men are more likely than women to want kids. What absolute bollocks. Don't bother sending me any links because the studies that have reported this are complete bollocks, too.

Maybe I just find that hard to believe bc I’m a woman ... And, tell me, what makes you think your experience is in any way remotely representative of most women? I already stated that the vanishingly few women for whom that is actually true at all is so small as to be completely irrelevant (and among those who don't want kids for real, quite a few are lesbians). So I'm not saying you don't exist. But if you're trying to convince others that you are somehow the typical case, then I have bad news …

Do you guys just forget that women who genuinely don’t want kids exist? It's not a case of forgetting. It's just that the vanishingly few women for whom that is actually true at all is so small as to be completely irrelevant (and among those who don't want kids for real, quite a few are lesbians). That's not the same as the number of women who say, often to convince themselves if no one else, that they don't want kids. But most of them know they're lying to themselves as much as those around the…

I see career driven, independent, highly educated and successful women. I hope this is convincing you because I doubt it's convincing anyone else. Not saying all women have to be modelled Bridget Jones - although it was a huge hit amongst women, not men - or She-Hulk, but what you're seeing is very superficial.

there are a lot of women out there who are totally fine with remaining single well into their thirties Bwuh-ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, yeah, right. EDIT I’m forever meeting and seeing ostensibly happy, beautiful and successful women well into their thirties who really aren’t remotely fussed about finding a man. OK, now I'm done laughing I have to say I'm fascinated by this post because it's not just a minor difference of opinion, but it's wildly inaccurate to the point of being delusional. The rea…

All what you're saying boils down to is "the situation I see is unfair, so I refuse to try." No, it isn't. That's what you're saying. It's not even close to what I've been saying.

What's "too late to the party"? A late developer, a later bloomer, someone who has only recently worked out so that they've changed their physical appearance, but their savvy is behind where someone might imagine it to be based on how they look now. Isn't that a fallacy? No, and I don't even see how it could be. The idea of a moderately good-looking but shy and awkward man is hardly science fiction, is it? Or at least, doesn't that run counter to some common notions like men get better with age?…

It's a line from Friends, moron. It even says so right there: I think it was Rachel in Friends who once said to Monica, "Oh my God, just get it out of the way!".

Meanwhile in the OP Full disclosure, I'm looking for advice for myself. I'm 26, almost 27, and haven't really ever had any men interested in me. I've never dated anyone and I'm a virgin.

Female virginity and sexual inexperience/insecurity isn't as much of a problem, let alone a deal-breaker, for women. Did you not read the OP or what?

To prove me wrong, you have to explain why a reasonably proactive, competent person can't overcome any one problem [ ... ] Similarly, tell me how a woman who has all those same things (job, fitness, social skills) can't find her looksmatch and marry him (if that's her goal). All your comments put the responsibility on the shoulders of the individual. And to an extent, you make a completely fair point, but ... you seem to be overlooking the fact that dating is probably the most social thing you c…

I've never dated anyone and I'm a virgin. I think it was Rachel in Friends who once said to Monica, "Oh my God, just get it out of the way!". Not suggesting for a moment you should feel pressured into this, but the important point is: Don't ask men, ask your girlfriends, the best one you can trust Get them to help set it up I'm not saying go with just anyone, but there will be basically decent men out there who can be found who can do this if this is something you know you want. But again, ask y…

It's not appropriate to give armchair diagnoses That you would say this strongly suggests you didn't bother to read what I wrote: it could be - but not necessarily is - one (or a combination of more than one) of the following ... So, how can I go about developing more of an emotional connection? The fact that you are asking that suggests that you are hoping to find a way to simulate having a deeper emotional connection. And that should tell you something about yourself. I have had exactly the same experience and from this I can suggest that it could be - but not necessarily is - one (or a combination of more than one) of the following: you may be a repressed homosexual you may have been sexually abused as a child - you h…

Basic rules aren’t that hard. If you’re going beyond them, it’s probably beyond the level of your students anyways. Yeah, keep telling youself that. These programs are hiring English speakers, not English instructors Again, that was quite literally my point with: At best, you were a native speaker with a book looking at grammar rules you'd probably never heard of and didn't really understand. - so what is it exactly you think you are disagreeing with?

So what exactly are you objecting to in this? At best, you were a native speaker with a book looking at grammar rules you'd probably never heard of and didn't really understand.

I did it With respect, you may have been called an English teacher, but I guarantee you weren't one. At best, you were a native speaker with a book looking at grammar rules you'd probably never heard of and didn't really understand. But you're right, there are plenty of places all over the world full of guys boning the local women by night while "teaching" during the day.

OP also says most guys could go if they wanted. No, he doesn't. But I feel like I see so many guys who fit into the "average frustrated chump" category ... who could move to Asia if they wanted to, but who just don't do it Why don't the AFCs who have nothing to lose just get up and go?

Why not? I can think of several reasons: Meekness often goes hand-in-hand with low self-esteem - he won't trust who he's with because he'll never quite believe it Fear of exploitation - the lack of trust means that he's going to worry she'll cheat on him, or she's got a partner in crime who's going to bleed him dry at some point, or she's actually got 10 kids and a grandma she wants to move to the US into his house etc. Language - an easy-going "chad" type has less of a problem with language iss…

You seem to think it's easy to just go to Asia. To be fair to OP, his post literally starts by pointing out how it's not easy to just go there: Obviously not every sexless male is in a position where he can just drop everything and move across the globe, so the "just go to Asia bro" advice doesn't apply to every single individual.
