It's not so much that what they did was wrong because I agree that they shouldn't sacrifice their lives for a girl, or necessarily anyone else, but the instinct seems wrong. Maybe I just have a really medieval or tribal sense of honor, but to me one shouldn't shrink from combat like that, especially where lives are on the line. The assistant principle and that guy who blocked that one stab are honorable, I guess that's good.

I guess you're right. I just can't get this incident out of my mind. The weakness and helplessness is staggering and it just seems really dangerous on a societal level. Yea, maybe I'm completely wrong and stupid but I needed to get this off my chest and I respect you guys enough that I figured I would be put in my place by reasonable, logical men rather than knee-jerk emotional liberals.

I agree entirely about the Game of Thrones sellsword theory. And I think you can extend that to the medieval and ancient man, for whom combat was far more personal. Your king or lord would send you into battle and then it was up to you. Yea I've been mostly lurking for 3 months now and while I enjoy a good MRA story it gets me no closer to my goals or internalizing traits like amused mastery, discipline, educational or financial success. I just get passed off and look at women as something to be avoided rather than conquered. Maybe just start downloading MRA threads until we return to basics.

I suppose it's more of the frame of mind you're in when you're opening the door for someone. If you're saying, fuck it, I like manners, I don't care what girls say or are doing it because women are too incompetent to do it themselves, it might not be a problem. If you're doing it because you think that women are the fairer sex and should be treated as better than you and therefore shouldn't put them through the physical trauma of opening a door, then you have a problem.

The whole "beauty is common" idea is fascinating. I'm pretty new here, but the idea of trivializing beauty as simply a minimum requirement for a girl to reach for you seems to be really important and useful in both confidence and getting women to qualify themselves to you.
