Potentially- if the marriage were a healthy, lifelong one, and particularly if he were in a career associated with my own. If not, there’s no guarantee any of his social connections would stay with me following a divorce. Also a divorce could completely bankrupt me if he ended up making stupid financial decisions, if he spent a lot of money, etc. Again, it just seems like an odd perspective of marriage in 2023. I got a degree that helps me make over 6 figures, now have a private practice, and go…

So from your perspective, most women urgently want wealth, but do not want to make their own wealth. Your perspective is that women only want to marry wealthy men, but also for some reason, as per your question, very frequently “settle for men who are not super rich.” Interesting.

If wealth alone is what you want, then it's better to have someone's wealth than none at all after trying and failing. Speaking as a woman, nope. If wealth is all I want, and I marry for money- he can divorce me and then I have nothing. But if I make my own, then no one is taking it from me, and my wealth will continue to grow as time goes on. When it comes to long term stability, it matters hugely how we make our money.

Also, quite seriously, I don’t understand your premise. If you think wealth is the most important thing to a woman, why would we marry for it instead of making it ourselves?

No, he was monogamous. I believe he’s still single to this day, he’s never had a lot of luck with women. I broke up with him because I didn’t feel strongly about him- no real emotional connection. A few months later I met someone that I had a very profound connection with.

Because if wealth is what we want, it’s far better to make it on our own than depend on someone else for it. Why would I marry someone rich when I could just get rich on my own? I also disagree with your premise that wealth is all women want. I broke up with someone exceedingly wealthy a long time ago, and have never regretted it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
