Ok I'm a successful professional mechanical engineer who manages a department of engineers and I'll say this - do engineering if u want to just get a four year degeee and be set for life but if you want serious money like top 1% then you have to get into asset management / investment banking. My buddy who is 34 (I'm 36) just bought a 3 MM house while mine is 400k. He's an investment banker. Seriously the big money is in fund management - if I knew that was the case I'd have done it differently
