Before entering for my freshman year of uni, I had to do this set of online quizzes, powerpoints, and readings on alcohol, it's consumption, and the consequences that might occur. As a Muslim all I kept thinking was how this applied to me. If anything I would be the guy helping out the drunken fools, but no, I still had to do it if I wanted to sign up for classes during the spring semester this year. It was super annoying. Your situation sounds extremely uncomfortable.

Well I was specifically talking about those two religions. If you look at the world there is pretty much Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism that form the largest religious populations. So there is a requirement for at least 25 percent of the world's population for circumcision on religious terms here. I'd like to think my point still stands here.

I assume many of the people who disagree with the practice are not religious and therefore have no requirement to do so. Well this is Aljazeera America, not Aljazeera international. Im quite the conservative and at times I get a bit tweaked when I listen to certain programming on the channel, but I wouldn't quite call it biased.

The "talk to Aljazeera" interviews aren't meant to be antagonistic or a debate, they are meant for whoever goes on to speak their minds and describe their world views and opinions. For watchers to get an insight into who they are. At least that is what I have seen in watching many of these. I agree with you on how simplistic many of the ideas that Ms. Steinem has stated though.

after reading your link I noticed that it was an Ahmadiyya website. You might not know this, but this group is considered not to be Muslims by the majority of my faith despite calling themselves such. Due to their beliefs such as their being a prophet after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which is completely biased, their founder calling himself a reincarnation of Prophet Jesus Christ (PBUH) as well as taking an extremely metaphorical view on the Quran, many Muslims do not even consider them a sect.

this is incorrect. If my information is correct, Muhammad's wives were the first ones to adopt the hijab as a way to dress modestly. Muslim women then began to dress in this specific fashion after. From my Ap World History course, it is taught that the specific article of clothing was taken from Byzantines and Sassanians.

I have met some people who believe that. I truly don't mind to be honest. I'll just ask them if a nun is being oppressed for wearing the clothing she wears. Either they'll stop or start insulting Christianity. I remember learning from an AP world history class I took as a high school freshman that the garb you see on many Muslim women today was actually borrowed from the Byzantines and the Sassanians.
