Why is this process so slow!!Sorry to say but the process is painfully slow especially if it goes to trial. I’m talking a year if it goes smooth. If courts are backed up or one stalls it can be years. Who makes out from this the lawyers. Push your lawyer as much as possible without getting charged ever little call or text | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/07/26 02:38 PM
Was It Worth It?I’m not sure it was worth it. I’m constantly consumed by my thoughts of her. I initiated the divorce. My one thing I do have is peace in my house. No more step kids dictating my life | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/07/26 01:20 PM
Anyone in Michigan not have to pay sposal support after 20 or so years? No one said it’s guaranteed. That’s why I brought up a job and disability | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/26 09:13 PM
Need encouragementJust wanna say I’m sorry it must be difficult. Dealing with infidelity is hard I’m sure. I would imagine you can never trust her again | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/26 06:58 PM
Anyone in Michigan not have to pay sposal support after 20 or so years?Michigan does have life time alimony after 20 years. You say she has a good job. So I’m guessing she’s not disabled. A lot depends on income disparity. My state it’s usually a 1:3 of the marriage length. As the op say everything is negotiable. Pension, assests, 401k all are on the table to bargain with. I gave my ex a number for everything she took it | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/26 06:51 PM
Should I go back?Exhaust every avenue before you proceed to divorce. For your family especially the kids. Some relationships can’t be saved. If she’s willing put the time in and try. Just my opinion. Take it from a guy that missed his kids at home | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/26 06:46 PM
Miss her or someoneYou’re right | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/07/26 09:33 PM
House purchase with trust funds - marital or non-marital?Every state is different in their rules. I can see why you are getting conflicting opinions. Doesn’t matter if she never earned a cent you’re married. Inherited assets are considered separate even during the marriage but problem is you bought a house while you were married with those funds. At the very least she’s probably entitled to 1/2 the houses increased value during the duration of the marriage. Her lawyer will want an appraisal. That’s probably your best case scenario. Just my opinion and… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 10:55 PM
Fresh divorce advice needed.Rush into it lol you’re half way to balls deep already! Be careful and have fun | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 08:41 PM
New to divorce (advice)In my two experiences unfortunately the judge didn’t care about many issues. Paying child support and accusations of hiding money really perked their ears up. They didn’t wanna hear all the nonsense or see messages. They’ve heard and seen it all. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 08:40 PM
Miss her or someoneYes I get my socialization at work but don’t like to hangout with them after work. We just end up talking about work the whole time | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 01:00 PM
Men who are separated but still in the same houseI cohabitated for close to a year before she was forced to leave. It was an extremely stressful period. I wouldn’t recommend it to anymore. But if you must you have to gray rock her. Don’t engage unless it’s absolutely necessary. Act just like a rock. Show no emotion be dull and lay there. A woman wants drama. She wants to bait you. She’ll soon get tired and give up. Try to have your own areas of the house. Make rules for cohabiting areas like the kitchen. DO NOT sleep with her or eat with her. … | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/26 01:29 PM
How do I know it's time to throw in the towel on my marriage?I knew it when I’d rather be at work than at home. When you’ve lost all respect for each other. When you’ve tried every avenue to make your marriage work. When she hits you and it’s escalating I knew it was time | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/07/26 05:31 AM
Married for 10 years and confronted four times in the last two months when I found my wife cheating. I don't know.Huh, why are you even thinking about this? You were basically roommates for years. Young dude comes a long and he trips and falls in your wife. This isn’t even debatable. Sorry this happened but move one | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/07/26 07:33 AM
How do you get over the feeling that you will never be loved again?Where you ever loved in the first place? Myself talking. Or just what you could provide. Would you ever trust anyone again? Is it worth trying? Seems to be too much risk involved. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/07/26 01:52 PM
Be HopefulAfter all that you’re on dating apps | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/07/26 12:56 PM
Blending families help (35m) and (29f) 5 total kidsDon’t move in together. If you wanna continue to date her fine. Blended family’s are extremely hard. Main reason why I got divorced. Do you have similar parenting styles? Did I tell you do not move in together | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/07/26 07:40 AM
Dealing with family members continually contacting my exThey forgot to invite you? I’m not so sure about that. They made a decision who to invite. They didn’t want the drama | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/07/26 07:37 AM
Thinking of exYes a lot of it is going over conversations. So writing things down will help me remember how things really were? Justify the divorce and stop the guilt? | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/07/26 03:19 AM
Never deleting your textsPlease if you go to trial tell me I’ll fly in for it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/07/26 06:01 AM
Never deleting your textsYou’re wasting your time. So you’re telling me the judge is going to go 2k pages of texts lmao | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/26 06:20 PM
Never deleting your textsDude the judge doesn’t care about texts. Unless there’s a death treat or something crazy. You think they haven’t heard it all? They want you in and out of that court room. They don’t wanna hear your sob story. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/26 03:52 PM
About Lawyers? He’s not your counselor or best friend. When he talks to you he charges, calls charges, email charges etc. the process is slow. Only talk to him/her if it’s important. If you’re not comfortable with them find someone else | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/07/26 10:31 PM
She wanted to prove she could do it without me 🤣Your kids will see how much you provided when they are 20 or so. I’ve been there it’s difficult situation. Have to keep telling yourself you are providing for your children and less on what she does. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/12/25 12:08 PM
The feeling of being replaced. That’s gotta be rough to see that. Seems like she’s trying to move on with her life. Some people never date again and others right away. Don’t assume she’s all happy and it’s perfect. You need to take care of you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/12/25 05:10 PM
What new hobbies did you guys pick up?Legos and a three wheeler lol | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/12/25 05:06 PM
Harder than I expected: MediationI did mediation a few weeks ago. It was over in a couple hours. It just makes it all real. Asked myself during mediation how did we get here? | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/25 09:06 PM
I just want her to admit that she regrets it!I waited 10 years to even date again. Got to the point my kids didn’t need me as much. Found myself with more free time. So I started to date again. I meet someone I thought was a good match. I was very naive with a blended family mix. My mom was dying of cancer and she didn’t want me to be alone. I loved her so I married her. Was it a mistake for sure. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/25 03:28 PM
I just want her to admit that she regrets it!My first divorce was 15 years ago. My ex finally admitted she was part of the problem too. Up until then she would take no responsibility. I was shocked she told me that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/25 02:19 PM
Why did therapy not work? Be honest, don’t give me the polite, mature answer. My first marriage we tried three different therapists. Each therapist my ex didn’t like. Of course because she didn’t like what they had to say. It did help me validate the divorce. She wasn’t willing to change or see her faults. My second marriage counseling made it so much worse. The same issues brought up yet again. Nothing resolved? No one willing to change. Complete waste of time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/25 12:29 PM
Am I wrong to divorce simply because I’m not “feeling it” anymore? No kidsYou don’t love her move on. It will be better for her to not prolong it. You simply want the single life. Don’t get married again anytime soon. The kid issue alone is huge and should have been discussed before marriage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/12/25 03:30 PM
Should I Do It?Are you willing to lose half of everything? Depending on where you live years of alimony. First start with a lawyer console and see what you’re looking at financially. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/12/25 03:52 PM
Lawyer told me in a divorce I’d be financially wrecked. Wife is emotionally gone. Any dads survive getting hit with this reality?Took me ten years to recovery financially. Payed cs till kids were 21. There would be lots more divorces if people could afford it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/12/25 06:22 AM
Liquidating Assets11 or 12 turns into 15 then where are you? I waited 3 more years than I should have. Reduce 401k amount put in right now. First thing I did. You’ll need a good chunk of that for lawyers. Go out and spend some money before hand then. Just make sure this is 100% what you wanna do. Exhaust all options before you file? | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/12/25 02:18 PM
Liquidating AssetsClock is ticking every second you wait to file it’s costing you money | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/12/25 01:16 AM
Ex finally moving outI’m going to finish a few projects around the house. Make the house my own and see how I feel come spring. Right now the house feels heavy like it needs cleansed. Have a low interest rate so I’d rather stay. We shall see. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/12/25 01:07 AM

I want her outIt’s tough if it’s a marital home. Cohabitating was hell | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/11/25 11:28 AM
Spoke with a new lawyer todayDon’t let it go over 10 years if you haven’t filed yet. Any adulatory in the relationship? Other than that in most states they don’t care. They don’t wanna hear your life store. Sucks but that’s just how it is | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/25 05:42 PM
If given the chance to travel back in time, what qualities would you look for in a partner? No mental illness Adult children empty house no minor Has career motivated for advanced Loving heart Same political views Same religion From a good family No clingers Financially responsible Travels Yes I want a unicorn but would never Marry again! | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/25 05:35 PM

Going through the processMy opinion if you are 100% sure of this file. Does she know it’s coming? Once she gets the papers the whole mediator thing might go out the window. It’s financial war after that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/11/25 04:27 PM
False allegations of DVSame thing here. Said she was sacred of me but then asked to reconcile | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/11/25 05:12 PM
False allegations of DVI cohabited for months living in fear. Had to put a deadbolt on my bedroom door because of fear. She hit me but I always worried about false claims | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/11/25 01:38 PM
Disheartening viewsWe all sat down in different room. We went back and forth for 2 hours. She finally signed | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/11/25 11:36 AM
Disheartening viewsMy lawyer and her lawyer both stalled at times. How hard is it to pick the phone up and settle. Oh we have to follow a process they say. They slowly milk you tell you’re dry. My case finally settled now I have to go sign the papers. Prob be another couple hundred for 10 minutes. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/11/25 12:17 PM
Did anyone else experience a complete 180 like this before divorce?Same here man. Mine was quiet and meek. After a few years it all changed. Almost like I was set up. Some see dollar signs | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/11/25 04:57 PM
Need adviceYou’ll be living in the camper alone. Go to counseling do whatever you can do. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/11/25 04:03 AM
Dichotomy of emotions?I’m in the same situation as you. I initiated the divorce. I was only married for 5 years and no children with her. I’m at the end of the process. I know I had to file. I couldn’t stand the fighting and drama anymore. I wasn’t going to change and neither was she. But I still miss the good times. I’m having trouble moving forward also. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/11/25 03:13 PM
Looking for advice for alimony and retirement.2.5 cohabitating? That seems unreal to me. Remember you being the higher earner the longer this goes the more it’s going to cost you. She’s benefits the most right now. Every sec her back account is going up and yours is decreasing. Go see a lawyer each states laws are different. Do not wait | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/11/25 10:14 PM
