From the comments: No matter what the article says, don't have sex on a first date. In fact, there should be nothing more than casual kissing. Having sex with your date won't make him respect you. And how can he ever get to love you if he doesn't respect you? My last and current girlfriend were sex on the second date. Oddly, it had no impact on respect. Women are allowed to like to fuck.

As a former clingy man, I agree 100%. I actually had this conversation with my girlfriend. I told her it was important for her to have a life outside of being my girlfriend.

They can't be charged in the same instance of said crime. But if he decided to touch the girl, that would be a new incident, and he can be charged.

You're misunderstanding this. Whether or not they felt the guy was innocent is irrelevant. They have to deal with the outrage from the public that a pedophile is being allowed near kids. That sort of pressure can cause even the most absurd case to be brought to trial. Hell, even if a DA's assistant felt the guy was innocent, all it takes is his boss telling him to get a conviction anyway. It's fucked, but it's not really that uncommon.

No evidence? Why did this go to trial? These cases going to trail effectively destroy the man. It's not unheard of for a he said/she said to go to trial. With a particularly high-profile case, there is pressure from not just the family of the alleged victim, but also from the public. That sort of thing can really push a case to trial, despite lack of evidence other than testimony. It may look bad for the DA to drop the charges. I don't like it, but that's often what happens. Definitely sucks, particularly for a teacher. An average person could probably get away from something like this unscathed. But because it was a teacher, every single fucking detail gets reported on.
