3	White Straight Male Privilege (Bear in mind I'm on mobile) It really is representative of low income areas like my school district which has over 60% of students on free or reduced lunch. Most of these kids have siblings to look after and jobs which detracts from the time they have available for sports, academics, and extracurricular activities. Those are all things colleges look for when you apply. These kids are at a disadvantage from the start when you compare them to higher income areas. 2	White Straight Male Privilege At the same time, I grew up really really poor and my grades suffered because I was working 30 hours on top of school and babysitting nearly full time while my mom worked. I didn't have time to work on homework or projects except on weekends and during study hall so I had to prioritize things and my gpa suffered as a result.
