Actually they only intervened after he got some really good hits in. She hits him a few times, he hits back harder a few times. Fight should be over so his mates help end it before anyone gets seriously hurt. He retaliated once and then stopped, but she started it again. She made it clear she wasn't going to stop, so he stopped her. His response was entirely warranted. Stop with your sexism apologetics.

And even if it is obvious at the start, it's easy I lose sight of this along the way.

It's all about confidence, especially for OP, which comes from being prepared. These are just some ideas, and will probably never be uttered (though I'd think he's a badass if he does use something like these).

Granted, I got sidetracked, but my main point was this: Having funny/witty/positive remarks prepared should take some of the edge off your nerves. It's the mental burden that OP is struggling with that keeps him from approaching to begin with, so mentally preparing will help get over the fear, even if the planned opportunities never come up :)

As soon as I saw GabiCelaya's post I tried to come up with something a douchebag is likely to say, and then a good comeback. My initial though was actually this, but I thought it was too juvenile/unlikely: "Now that's a face only a mother could love" "Truer words were never spoken. By the way, you're gonna have to start calling me Dad" Edit: I accidentally twiced a word

Great point. Have some responses planned for the douchbags to shut them up, but without coming off as a douchebag yourself. "She's not interested in freaks. Get lost." Unphased, looking her over, then speaking directly to her with a slight smirk - "I wouldn't have walked over if I thought you were a prude. I'm betting you do like it a little freaky, don't you?" Ignore him, bringing down his worth, escalating your own, and getting straight to the point.

I agree - start working on a repertoire of witty remarks. Having funny/witty/positive remarks prepared should take some of the edge off your nerves. Instead of thinking, "What if they say something about it," you can instead be thinking, "I hope they ask me right off the bat because I've got some great material to follow with." "I'm the only normal looking guy here, you all look like freaks to me" "Well most people have a good side and a bad side. This is my good side...and this is my badass sid…

Obsessive? Yes. Unhealthy? Not at all. The most successful people are those with clear, defined goals. Some people can keep them clearly in mind, while some of us need a physical document to impose on us and remind us of what we need to be working on. In some circles I've heard it referred to as reverse-engineering you life. Decide what principles you want to govern your decisions and decide where you want to be in x number of years, and then hash out the wickets you need to hit to get there, an…

This is a great idea. I may have to adapt it for my own use. Back in high school and for several year afterward, I on-and-off kept a journal (just less feminine way of saying "diary"). I originally started with the sole goal of improving my handwriting - and it was successful in that I still, ten years since I last journaled, have excellent cursive handwriting. The unexpected benefit was the self-reflection inherent in the simple act of deliberately recalling the day's/week's events. I also real…

Hey, it's totally alright to not know who you are. You can take ownership of finding out :) Deliberately do things to push the envelope a bit, and just make mental notes. Do things just to do them, and slowly you'll find out which things feel the most natural, or which things don't, but you want to do anyway. It's like playing minefield. Just click and see what's there. Clear the field, and live (well).

•_• Come on man, you're really gonna reply to only the very last line? I wanna get mad, but I came to offer advice, so I'll keep rolling with that. If perfection isn't a destination, then there is no "close to perfection." It's not about having a definitive predefined notion of what you want to be. That's what causes a lack of confidence - by focusing on what you're not. You have to focus on what you are, right now, and take control that. Be you. Accept you. Admit flaws honestly to yourself. Mak…

Confidence doesn't come from perfecting yourself; it comes from accepting yourself, including your flaws. It sounds like you may be having some inner conflict, which may either be adding to a confidence issue, or may be the root cause. Having or not having sex isn't a big deal - as long as you're ok with your own choice about it. Make up your mind, and go with it. If you change your mind later, then awesome, you changed you mind. Right now there's some cognitive dissonance going on. What you say…
