At one point in time (nearing the end of segregation) this would have been acceptable. I take this as a sign (literally) that perhaps we're starting to near the end of the thought process that segregates men from families.

Sadly, most students will end up having a class or professor that will push this political agenda. Mine was my sophomore year of college, it was supposed to be a lit class, it turned into Man Hating 101.

I think it needs to be understood that he should have a lawyer before the cops return. Get in front of this the way you did with her brother's threats. Talk to that lawyer, keep his card on you at all times, speed dial that guy, he will answer all of your questions regarding rape kits, witness testimony, and how to prove your innocence in all of this. And when the cops return, call that lawyer right away. If you hear someone at the door say "[Reddit] County Police", you call your lawyer. I know …

"referred to male bonding in steakhouses or at barbecues as examples of a culture of male-dominant consumption of meat and women" Ok, assuming that there is male bonding happening at your local steakhouse (I've only gone there on dates with women, but whatever) is that such a bad thing? Is it a problem that men want to gather around a grill (ok, that happens) and hang out the way friends do? Are we afraid of a community where the men know and like each other? And how exactly did we make the leap…

should we be pushing people to play a game they have no real chance in? College sports is filled with people who will never be pros. High school sports have tons of people who will never play in college. The idea of the sport is not to play in the pros, or to get paid millions to do it, it's to do something you love, throw yourself in so completely that you know every aspect of it, and have the time of your life. Gender plays no roll in this.

As a guy in a long term relationship that gets turned down regularly (I have a higher libido then she does) these things go through your mind after a while. Eventually you talk about things the way you would in a healthy relationship and you ask (most) of these questions. You also have to reword them.

I'm not sure how you got to those statistics I don't think that he intended them as true statistics, just a view of the sampling. (3 women) If he is serious (I doubt it) then this IS a dangerous slope. We've seen this recently in certain studies done by feminist groups, where a wild claim is made based on a sampling of 60 people. It's not something that I support, but as I said, I don't think that he was serious, so I'm not going to get up in arms about it.

I don't think that it's a useless word, though I do think that it is a movement without a concise goal. With suffrage women had a clear goal, the right to vote. Then they wanted to be a part of the workforce. Now feminism claims that it is fighting for equality. Society has made great strides in this area, in certain places we've fallen short, in others we've gone too far. It's gotten to the point where people are contorting statistics to give the movement a focus (women make x to men's y, x wom…

I understand that she is not allowed on the property, but does she have to keep a certain distance from the school? If you see her loitering nearby (as I'm sure she did if she keeps running up and yelling at teachers) can you call the cops to take her away? Or does she have to actually set foot on school property?

^ This is the FBI's definition, I'm sure that many jurisdictions would change their definition the moment that the FBI changed theirs. (Something that I hope happens very soon.) Sadly, it would be labeled a 'sexual assault'. Depending on jurisdiction this crime may carry a lighter sentence than Rape.

turn the tables on the media The only reason for the money is to do exactly this. Media outlets won't care who they hurt, so long as their bottom line isn't damaged. But, if you make the punishment for publishing lies more severe than their gains for those lies, that's when it will stop, and not before.

But my question is 'Why?' Why would the press need unfettered and immediate access to a player? Why do they need to talk to these people while they're half dressed or taking off their pads? While they're still sweating and smell like hell? There's no need. They'll be able to answer your questions in twenty minutes, so why would anyone ever add that to a contract? What good does it do?

What I said was that reporters shouldn't be in the locker room. Period. Doesn't matter if that person is a man or woman, they shouldn't be there. These athletes just worked their asses off for several hours, give them some time to shower and dress before you put them on TV or grill them with questions.
/r/MensRights04/09/13 06:37 PM

It's at the end of the article. Despite the fact that I don't think reporters belong in a locker room at all, and if they are, why aren't male reporters in women's locker rooms? I have no real issue with the article. Though, I do also think that it serves no significant purpose. It feels more like a piece that they'd publish on a really slow day.

That is actually why I would be upset with a lack of a male equivalent to that story, people don't notice/know/care that the same things that can have a negative impact on women can have a negative impact on men. Do you (as in the people who wrote the original story) think that porn/magazines/movies/all media push onto you what they think the perfect female for should look like? Yes it does. Is that fair? No. But I also think that porn/magazines/movies/all media push onto us what the perfect man…

It IS really hard to speculate on this, that is why I have to up-vote you. There is never any mention of one, I'm not sure who's oversight that is, the people writing the original story, or the ones reporting on it. In either case, as I said, if they had planned on or had one in the works, then I'd have no problem with it and would think the entire thing an unfortunate incident. But, if there were no plans to do a male counter story, then I take issue with the cover itself.

/r/MensRights22/08/13 06:37 PM

If I had heard anywhere in any of the articles or posts about this cover that they had planned next month's to be all men's penises, then I'd have no problem with it. But it never occurred to anyone that a man might have a false body image because of porn as well. (One of their excuses for doing the cover in the first place.) Since no ever bothered to get the guys on campus to do a counter piece, then I find it to be terribly one sided, and frankly closed minded to male body image issues.

Yes, someone being drugged is not very common. But, since we have the ability to detect the drugs in a drink, let's put this shit on the market, sell straws by the pack, but let's also not forget to keep an eye on our drinks. Seriously people, watch your stuff, you never know who's taking your credit card, and who's dropping what in your glass. Between diligence and detection, the few confirmed cases should be preventable.

Let's start with one basic understanding. Women are allowed to be attracted to men. Men are allowed to be attracted to women. (There are many other permutations, but for simplicity's sake, let's just keep going.) As part of this, it's ok to want to (and not want to) have sex with a person, as long as you handle your own emotions and actions in a respectable manner. Some parts of modern feminism (not all of it) think that you should not be sexually attracted to women as that objectifies them, I r…

Or perhaps grown men are less likely to seek help on their own and thus their mental illness will go undiagnosed. Also, I think that we are giving too many kids drugs for ADD/ADHD and that many of them are just high energy or they do not fall into the teacher's teaching style. Perhaps they'd do better in a different class.

They're welcomed to participate in that manner. However, the concept of not shaving your face is that everyone can see it. Most women do not work or live in an environment where they would be showing off their legs or armpits, so it would be more of a quiet support. I'm not saying don't do it, by all means go ahead, but it might be better to wear something that made it more pronounced. Perhaps since breast cancer has adopted pink we can take blue or brown? April 5, 2011. It's not like they're setting it up to be on International Men's Day. The White House is trying to raise awareness of an issue. We're doing that with no-shave November. Everyone has something that theywant to bring to everyone's attention, and this diserves some. The US government's site on AIDS clearly states that men are most at risk, so they're trying to bring attention to women facing AIDS as well. I think that the more appropriate response is to run your hands over her legs and comment on how silky smooth they are. She clearly went through some effort in an attempt to be even the slightest bit more attractive to you, appreciate that. Later on you can tell her how you feel about leg shaving, but in that moment she basically wants you to grab her leg and give her a complement. (Or at least that's been my experiances. YMMV)

I would think that a man's right to be attracted to whomever he pleases would be a men's rights issue. I'm not going to argue if women want to fight for it (just as I wouldn't argue if women wanted a more biologically neutral definition of rape), but I would think that since it's about a man's right to choose his partner, then MR should be all for it!

I agree that hiring a new person would be a quick resolution to the problem, but what if that means that he has to fire someone to be able to afford it? Wouldn't he essentually be firing that person because they are Muslim? Wouldn't that get him into even more legal trouble? To me this is religious rights vs hurt feelings. A quick google maps search of the area shows no less than ten other barbers/salons with in one mile of the Terminal Barber Shop, leaving this woman with no shortage of choices. I weigh that against the barber's right to practice his religion, and the law's of that religion state that he cannot cut a woman's hair if she is not married to or related to him. And I think that forcing him to hire someone new (that would not be bound by the same laws) w…

Sadly Faith McGregor brought sex into it, and so did the author of the article. Not a single direct quote from the barber, several from Faith. Only a quick mention of his religious beliefs and how they'd be trampled if he was forced to cut women's hair. No talk about how people of faith have to bend to Faith's will so they don't offend her. Its when you start having different rules for men and women that I start to think that this person and I would not see eye-to-eye on many topics. Edit: I would also like more clarification on the meaning behind his rule #37. And the full text for #35.

The pill itself, for me, was taken when I started dating a woman that treated me like an equal. She helped me realize that I'm more than a provider and protector as I've been raised to believe. My eyes started opening to the fact that it is assumed that we will throw ourselves infront of a bullet or on an attacker for a stranger simply because it's a woman being attacked. Or that we MUST be the bread winners, and if we aren't, then we aren't worth a woman's time, but she's inherently done her jo…

The Equality and Human Rights Commission said single sex rules should be “the exception”. No, they should be banned. It is just another way to separate fathers from their children. I truely wish that I lived closer so I could sit in a chair outside with a sign reading "Fathers are partents too".

In what legal sense does a third grader have the maturity to consent to a search? None. And lets not forget that even after the age of 18 we still hire persons of the same sex as the student/flight passenger/stadium goer to perform the search. This is clearly a violation of the childs rights and should be treated as child molestation and illegal search, since it was performed without the consent of the parent and without the parent present.

I really like your friend! Just to give perspective: Here in Baltimore, at Orioles games they check all bags (women's included), but no pat-downs for anyone. At the Ravens' games, though, they have separate lines for men and women so you can be groped by someone of the same sex as you, then they go through your bags.

I'm not sure how you handled that so well, even reading it I got very upset. I'm sure I would have ended up missing the movie. I'm also starting to see a pattern where men are treated like this until they get angry and raise a stink, at which point people think that they are a "typical agressive male" and that just (in their minds) validates this behavior. I can only hope that I'd act like OP and not give them any reason to feel so self-rightously validated.

In the US there are a number of places that all bags are searched, including women's purses. Many of those places are stadiums and the like. I think that OPs problem was less that a woman was going through his bag and more that his bag was the only one searched while women, who were carrying bags just as large or bigger, went through without even a cursory look. They searched him simply based on his sex.

I think the fact that it is a cross post from /r/funny speaks volumes. Even if she was arrested and convicted of vandalism and theft, the fact is that people view this as comical behavior.
