Back when Covid and the BLM protests were happening, I tried to engage with friends. I felt like the burning of buildings wasn’t morally justified. I had two cis white friends who were women call me racist simply for trying to encourage conversation online. And since then I’ve been called several racist names because I said that white cis hetero men can be discriminated against in retail stores

Yes, be it early childhood environments, psychology with which we are born or some other factor people are generally attracted to the same type - over and over. If they’re uncritical and do not look at past behavior they are doomed to repeat it. After a while it seems as if everyone in a particular gender is the same. Generally speaking people hate looking at themselves with a critical eye. If they can blame another they will.

If you’re unable to have a civil, politically moderate and scientifically informed conversation then you shouldn’t be involved in public discourse. It’s one thing to leave during a presentation but it’s another thing to actively prevent your “opponents” from speaking in a public venue.

If anything, acting in a way that seems incompetent would actually require a hell of a lot more planning then being just incompetent. Seems far more likely: 1.) A party simply doesn’t know how to do the task. 2.) He isn’t doing the job how his partner would like the job to be done

Actually I do think that’s true but maybe more subtle and more unconsciously influenced then conventionally portrayed. For context, I was never involved in the hookup culture in college. So I wasn’t exactly privy to how women would treat men in bar environments. I mostly knew women as friends and confidants.

Yes, I was on a feminist page yesterday. The poster complained that in the American South Older men call women “beautiful” and they felt like it was misogynistic. I asked them to explain. The most thoughtful answer said that when men complement women, it’s often followed by sexual harassment and creepiness. So apparently women now find complements about beauty to be extremely creepy

One time I was banned from a community - the given explanation was that I was apart of MRA and “incel” groups. So I looked at the rules for the particular community in question and it said absolutely nothing about not being allowed to be a member of other “questionable” groups. So I texted a mod and told them “you’re blocking me because I am a member of groups you don’t like?” And “you do realize that your own guidelines do not contain this rule?” Never heard back from them but they did unblock …

That really is ridiculous - even if it doesn’t happen often that doesn’t make it right

Yeah, I’ve had a similar experience! I remember a post somewhere where a guy was attempting to explain that POC always take the receipt in stores because they’re likely to be stopped for shoplifting. I added a comment that as a white guy I always take the recipe because I’m concerned that I’ll be stopped for shoplifting. I literally had 20 people comment that the reason why I was taking the receipt was different then why a POC would do it. I even got a few comments saying that I was obviously ly…

Yes, I’ve attempted to use the term on feminist pages on tik tok in way to talk about issues facing men (such as sexual harassment at bars - primarily from women). In response, I’ve heard people say “it doesn’t happen to men” or “ok it might happen but it’s so infrequent it really doesn’t matter”.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
