Could've been an honest mistake. I can't say I haven't blocked a crosswalk by accident, especially if I'm not familiar with the area.

That's not an excuse to publicly freakout and damage their private property

So then experience is what matters, not consciousness? What if that individual lost his memory before the coma? Heck, even a 5 month old likely doesn't have the life experience or understanding to know what they're losing. The biggest problem is that no pro-abortion argument has consistent logic, unless you simply don't believe human life is intrinsically valuable. I'm not going to make excuses for killing a human just because of their memory or level of consciousness, because we don't make thos…

Only if the prognosis is poor, meaning they are unlikely to recover. But I'm not talking about the edge case. I'm speaking for any case, because that's how you would have to apply your argument for it to be logically consistent. Imagine we had some amazing technology that could tell us how long they'll be in a coma for. If there's an estimated timeframe (say, 9 months?) that this individual will recover from their coma, do you really believe you have the right to kill them?

In order to be logically consistent, you'd also have to concede that people in comas could be freely killed without it being murder.

Firstly, are you really so insecure that you feel the need to downvote my responses? Not that I care about fake internet points, it's just a little pathetic that I take the time to respond to you and actually provide you with my perspective, which you said you didn't initially understand. But I digress. if there's no pain for the fetus and they dont have feelings yet, it's not murder Ok, so your argument is that pain is required for life? Right now it's not known when a fetus can actually feel p…

No, instead they chop it up into pieces and suck it up with a vacuum. Are you saying the difference between it being a life or not is because of its physical location? Whether it is 1 foot out of the uterus or not?

It's pretty simple. I'm against abortion for the same reason I'm against any other form of murder. I believe human life is inherently valuable and that no one has the right to take the life of another human.

I agree. However, I will say that I think it's up to those who want to allow abortion to define where life begins. Conception is the only clear and consistent line you could draw between a human life and not a human life. Cheers

I get the sentiment, but I think your argument is like saying the state shouldn't be telling you that you can't rape a 12-year-old. The state should protect the innocent.

While I'm not the person you replied to, and I agree that it is a pretty grey issue, I think that using underage girls and rape cases to make your argument is pretty disingenuous. Less than 10% of abortion cases are from underage girls, and that statistic includes 18- and 19-year-olds as well, so it's likely much lower. Furthermore, rape is also less than 1% of the reason for abortion. If I were to agree with you and say underage pregnancy and rape are terrible, and compromise to say we should a…

Not the person you replied to, but here is pretty good factual evidence. Pretty much every reason besides rape or medical conditions is for convenience - rape and medical conditions makes up less than 10% of abortions combined.

Because in most cases the child is an attachment of the mother literally growing off of and removing nutrients from her in order to grow into what we know as a human... That mother is risking everything to bring that child into what we know as life, but until that moment (or at least rather close to that moment) Then maybe she shouldn't have had sex if she wasn't prepared to carry a child? Just because she regrets her actions doesn't mean she has the right to end a life. If I invite you in to ea…

It wasn't me making the arguments, so no, I didn't like my own comments. It was something I stumbled upon in my feed.

How are they not? You're ending a separate human life in either case. That's a fact. Any biologist could take a look at a single cell from the woman and a single cell from the child and tell you that they're not the same human.

You care because you’re lacking in reasoning skills, logic and are ignorant of basic biology. I guarantee I've been through much more rigorous biology than you, but that's not really relevant. The facts don't care. There are two options for your argument. 1) You either take the view that killing a fetus is murder as it is a bunch of live cells. However, all our cells are alive and therefore you should also think it’s terrible when someone burns or cuts themselves and kills cells or bites into a …

What % of eggs fail to get fertilised? What % of fertilised eggs fail to implant? What % of implanted eggs miscarry? What % of % of new borns have debilitating birth defects? Why is any of that relevant? Your argument here is like saying "what percent of children get child cancer?" and therefore it's justified killing them. Forced-birthers love to talk big about basic biology when their own knowledge is very lacking. The only forced-birthers are rapists. I'm simply trying to prevent people from …

First of all, I don't know how you conclude that I'm "slut shaming". I don't think anyone, man or woman, should be having sex outside of marriage for the sake of their kid(s), as well as the fact that that is how you avoid poverty. However, if you want to have sex, I'm not in charge of your decisions or lifestyle. Just have the personal responsibility to manage the consequences of your actions. That goes for father and mother. Secondly, less than 1% of abortions are for cases of rape. I agree th…

I've been married to my wife for almost 4 years now, actually, and started dating her in 2009...but thanks for checking in.

Inarguably is not the appropriate word, it’s completely arguable that’s why there’s always a huge debate. It's really not. It's basic biology. It is neither the mother nor the father and is a unique makeup of the two. You could argue whether or not it's a person or not, but it is inarguably a unique human. I don’t believe it’s alive until a certain stage in the process so it’s not ending a human life until that certain point, And which stage is that and why? That's something no one has been able…

I care about abortions for the same reason I care about rape or drunk driving. These actions have consequences that affect other people. If they didn't, I wouldn't care. You do what you want with your own body and your own life. But abortion is, inarguably, ending the life of another human. No one has the right to do that.

Fair enough. I think your opinion would probably change if you saw the rest of the thread, but this was the part that stood out to me...he called her out on her BS, and she never replied.

So, my bodily autonomy was questioned. And honestly, I don't think that's unreasonable, as long as they don't stop you from doing what you want after having a discussion. I think it's a good thing that they discuss the consequences of this decision because it's a big decision to make.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
