Nobody tells you to go into them but these are the jobs that made America a great country with a thriving economy. I agree, but that said, there is also a huge shortage of engineers in the US.
In the US it's considered self defense. When I took martial arts classes we were taught to make sure the enemy cannot hurt you, using lethal force if necessary.
If given the choice between fighting someone with a knife or a gun, I'll take the gun every time. All you have to do is keep that little hole from pointing straight at you. With a knife, everything is dangerous.
