If it's a modification to her house then, unless there was a contract stating that the floor should only remain as long as she remains faithful, he has not claim over it. Even if it was a paid labour, the labourer can't just go tear it up. He would have to sue per the legal system. No judge is going to believe that a floor was an item in the boyfriend's possession akin to a tv or a pet.

The gender swapped analogue is situations when people say to male victims of abuse: "You must have done something to upset her". It's misogynistic because it suggests that women are the cause of the bad behaviour of men, not the men themselves.

The idea isn't to get the radicals to change their mind. By being responsible and cordial, you appeal to the reasonable members of the discussion. Just as in the American election, getting the non-voters to take a side is crucial.
