Reality TV can be fun. It can also be awful. I get seasick, and I’m guessing I have another month out here before I get any real time on land. At least the current plan is to sleep 4 straight hours before we get back to it. I’ve never really been out just to get laid. I’m more interested in longer term monogamous situations. (Longer being relative, just not really into one-night stands. I like to get to know the person I’m with, and want to invite that person into my life.) So I look for people …

I worked in Reality TV back when I was in Atlanta (still do - replying from a crab boat in the Bering Sea right now). I worked 70-80 hours a week, but would still force myself to go out and spend time in places where I could end up being social at least 2-3 times a week, no excuses. Quiet bars, coffee shops, some sort of meetup group, something. I’m introverted, but some time with people is still good for me, and let’s face it… I didn’t get laid hanging out on Facebook. So off I went into public…

I used to read at a quiet bar in Atlanta and I got hit on all the time. I guess these days if that’s how I wanted to meet people I would pick books to get a reaction - classics, or some new york times top 40 list book, or a book about something I’m really into (climbing. I couldn’t date someone who isn’t a climber. I’ve tried it, it doesn’t work. Pass). Or go out and engage in your hobbies. There are all sorts of people out there into the same things. Meet them.

This. I’m in the middle of nowhere for work, was hanging out on a boat. Interested female and I clicked over climbing, she invited me home to check out her gear / give her some advice. Within 5 minutes she straight up asked me if I wanted to have sex. I’d have appreciated a slightly less forward approach... but Alaska, and fishing town. I declined because I’m seeing someone, but damn. If I was up for it, that would have done the trick!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
