I never fully went down the RP rabbit hole. I'm 43, so I definitely do remember when PUA and male self-improvement was getting popular. I never did great with women and was pretty frustrated with that throughout my 20s and partly into my 30s. Not the person you're replying to, but this happens to me too. Assuming they're not bots, I think a lot of people on dating apps swipe half-heartedly on people that they think look good enough. When there's an actual match between those people, it's unexpected, and one (or both) people involved just aren't all that invested. Its a product swiping apathy and loneliness, I think.
