Maybe I'm off the mark here, but wouldn't you be more comfortable as someone on the receiving end of a pet name if the person initiating it were comfortable as well? The media does a great job of stigmatizing pet names, and as a result, many people may feel subconsciously uncomfortable using them. If an AFC comes up to you and creepily calls you "sweetheart", then of course it's not going to work. It sounds like they don't respect your need for privacy enough. Maybe try to take some steps toward getting them to treat you as more of an adult in this area. I would talk to them about this and try to get them to see it from your perspective. Surely there's something they could do out of the house at least one or two nights a week?

Why did you remove that? It was a good post! The only thing I would have changed would have been texting her all that. A lot of it seemed like it was important to you, and I know I hate having important conversations over texts. Texting just seems less meaningful. It probably would have been a good idea to call her, but then again I don't know the situation and you might have had your reasons.

Dunno why you're getting downvotes. This seems like great advice.
