Yes I agree. The correct verdict was given. Most people I talked to about it thought during the court proceedings that this would happen. Not once was there any evidence provided that made it seem nailed on.

Yeah i don't think it was rape. The witnesses who entered the room during the sex didn't notice anything untoward going on, and the accused didn't stop their sexual acts, which suggests they thought it was all fine. But I do believe the girl believes she was raped.

What I'm saying though is I don't think the girl believes she consented. Whether or not she did consent is up for debate, but for this to be considered PPD surely it has to be proven that she was intentionally lying? The results of this case are that there wasn't enough evidence to convict, not that she lied about it happening.

Can I just say, as someone from Belfast who has been following the case, I don't believe this is an example of PPD. The different stories told during the trial, of which there were many, would suggest that the rugby players don't believe they were raping the girl, but that the girl fully believes she was raped. The sexual acts tread the line of consent and everyone seems to have been very drunk at the time, but I don't really believe this was a case of the girl trying to falsely accuse these men…
